US melodrama Devious Maids has been cancelled by Lifetime.
The Marc Cherry series about Latino maids recently wrapped its fourth season in the US.
While his previous creation, Desperate Housewives, was a ratings hit and an Emmy favourite in its early years, Devious Maids was never able to match its success. Eva Longoria was one of its executive producers.
Hollywood Reporter notes the cancellation also comes after a major rebranding for the A+E-owned cable network. Earlier this year, Lifetime launched a new on-air look promoting female empowerment and tied to the word “fempire” -the channel also screens UnREAL.
Devious Maids has screened in Australia on Universal.

I think universal channel is showing it this month
Such a shame, it was a good little series. Certainly no Desperate Housewives, but I’m not sure it was trying to be. Hopefully Universal Channel here gets around to playing the final series at some point! Also hope it doesn’t end the season on a cliffhanger, as it has with the first three seasons.
Oh no! Terrible news indeed. And unfortunately, it does end with a cliffhanger, a pretty big one at that.
The final series starts Wednesday September 21st at 8:30 pm on Universal channel.
