Game of Thrones enthralling episode “Battle of the Bastards,” which included visual FX work from Australia’s Iloura Productions, has won a Creative Emmy Award.

The episode, which featured Jon Snow and his Wildling army facing Ramsay Bolton, defeated competition from Black Sails, The Man in the High Castle, Penny Dreadful and Vikings.

Creative Emmy Awards were announced on the weekend ahead of next week’s Primetime Emmy Awards. Game of Thrones dominated the night with nine wins.

The ceremony included several supporting acting roles, with gongs going to Margo Martindale for The Americans,  Hank Azaria for Ray Donovan and Amy Poehler and Tina Fey achieved a historic win by sharing the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series award for their joint hosting work on Saturday Night Live.

Amazingly Peter Scolari won for Girls -he was only added to the category after Peter MacNicol was ruled ineligible for Veep.
