The latest celebrity to be getting the TV drama treatment is Shane Warne, according to a media report today.

Screentime and Seven will put forward a funding submission to Screen Australia this week proposing a drama about the star cricketer.

Warne’s life has attracted plenty of headlines, notably for his rollercoaster romantic life, falling from grace and links to glamorous women including Liz Hurley. His life has previously been the subject of an acclaimed stage musical by Eddie Perfect.

The Sunday Telegraph claims Nine has previously shown interest in a Warne bio-drama, but Seven is moving forward with its own.

Next year Seven will screen a Paul Hogan drama starring Josh Lawson while plans for another on Olivia Newton-John have gone quiet of late.

It’s not known if the project has the approval of Warne.
