Australian Survivor fans are in for a treat tomorrow night.

The episode features a series highlight that is as good as any moment you’ll see on the US series. This is a must see for true Survivor fans.

Just three episodes remain in the season, with the winner to be revealed on Tuesday night.

7:30pm Sunday on TEN.

  1. It was an exhausting episode to watch – the challenge was amazing – I was so hoping Matt would win! Then I was so hoping Kristy would finally see what has been happening in front of her eyes the whole game – but No! I thought Elle and Lee had a bullyish tone about them last night and for such “nice people” it was pretty heavy-handed. Lee telling Kristy to watch out if Elle is voted off, you’re really going to see him playing hard. And then telling others to leave Kristy alone and stop manipulating her – are you kidding me? “Elle and I have never discussed being the final 2” – sure, sure! The only thing I am thinking now is – if it is a final 3 (as opposed to 2) and Elle and Lee are both in the finale, maybe they will receive split votes and Kristy or Flick might sneak through.

  2. I agree I was a bit disappointed with last nights episode, I think the hype of the ‘must see moment’ made me have too high expectations of either Lee or El getting the boot

    1. Big players getting the boot is fun, but is actually standard fare for Survivor. What is also very common is someone saying one thing and then scrambling behind their back. Last night differed from that significantly, when El did the whole “She’s a liar” right in front of Flick. Definitely worth seeing.

  3. If your big moment was El lashing out at Flick, then I agree it was the highlight of the episode. It was an amazing bit of strategy which turned the vote around completely. And very sweet to finally see Flick get her desserts.

If there is no reunion show, it is hard to see how they will make the Finale worthy of this great season. Paring out all the novelty stuff from the US ones (Sia moment, anyone?) it is the best part, hearing the motives from the players.

  4. David I think you talked this one up a bit. Another episode of Kristie “making a big move” and not following through. Most survivor fans saw this coming I think but your “must see ” post gave us some hope that there was a power couple elimination. Hardly worth watching tomorrow to see Flic go. But of course I will.

      1. Fair call David. I think a lot of us were so desperate for a power couple elimination we saw your post as a glimmer of hope. Got it now. Having said that it was an entertaining if frustrating episode.

    1. The whole “You know she’s a liar” right to Flick’s face was as good as anything on US. Straight after Flick does the whole “You’re like my sister and we’ll be friends after this is over.” Kristie like a deer in headlights torn between the two. Hilarious!

      1. Maybe you set my expectations too high after the initial blog piece but I certainly didn’t witness a must-see moment in tonight’s episode. However, opinion is just that and everyone has their own. There’s one thing I think we all agree on: if you are a loyal survivor fan then you’ll be loving this series. Channel 10 have done it justice and then some. Aside from perhaps benefiting from some snappier editing it’s been an incredible series, from casting through to production.

      2. I don’t know what Flick was thinking even going into that conversation… trying to alleviate her conscience? Trying to curry favour (i.e. a jury vote from El)? Whatever it was, it was naive and incredibly stupid. And then to vote Matt? And El voted Flick? I was really confused by the result because I felt as blindsided by the editors as Matt did. The whole episode just ended up feeling confused.

        1. Clearly “mateship” got into her head, but it was entirely symbolic of the post-merge game – stupid players making incredibly stupid moves against their own interests. Realistically we’re going to end up with a winner that either wins due to the stupidity of those surrounding them (Lee/El) or in spite of their own stupidity (Kristie, Flick) and as much as can’t stand Lee and El’s sanctimonious hypocrisy, at this point I’d rather they get the cash over someone like Kristie.

Re: the votes, clearly it wasn’t a live tribal – Flick’s attempted to save herself (maybe vainly hoping cult loyalty forgive her?) and El’s voted for Flick in case of an idol, knowing Kristie was with them (at worst its a 2-2 tie and she can vote Matt on the re-vote).

  5. I’ve watched all 33 including current US season of Survivor.. Australian version is really, really good.. especially the production. I’m looking forward to this weeks finale.. Visually its spectacular..

    1. I don’t think there is a reunion special. The final vote reveal was done on location (like some of the earlier seasons of the show).

In my opinion, it is not a major loss, Reunuons of late have been a pretty boring show. I only really watch them for the preview of the following season.

      1. There’s a good reason why the content of the US reunions in recent years has been pointless – Jeff has started pulling his producer weight – despite getting rid of things he doesn’t like (parade of fallen survivors) from the finale they’ve bloated it out so what used to be a 40min reunion now only has 30, sometimes only 25mins. On top of that Jeff now shuns half the contestants (often including those who made the finale) for whatever strikes his fancy – inane audience questions, celebrities, ex-Survivors who were favourites of his like Boston Rob promoting their new book/show, etc.

        1. I’ve only seen around 3 complete seasons of Survivor (heroes and villains, second chance and white collar vs blue collar vs no collar), in all 3 I found the reunion specials were great. They got into the psychology behind votes (Jeremy vs Spencer in second chance) and the controversies of each season (Shireen getting bullied by Will, Dan claiming he was misrepresented on the show, etc) in greater depth. Two of those only aired in the last two years. Maybe they were better in earlier seasons but I can’t comment on that. As a new fan of the franchise I think they’re a great conclusion rather than just announcing the winner and having the credits roll
