Alan Carr has now confirmed Alan Carr: Chatty Man has ended after 16 seasons over eight years.

He conceded that it was a struggle to compete with Graham Norton, pulling around twice his audience, and Jonathan Ross.

“I’ve gone as far as I can with Chatty Man,” he said.

“I just think that the art of the chat show has evolved unless you can get the amazing guests all the time that Norton gets.

“I’ll be honest with you, I don’t think moving it to a Thursday was the best move. It feels like a party show, a Friday show.”

However Carr is now working on a new show, Alan Carr’s Happy Hour, for Channel 4.

Alan Carr: Chatty Man has aired in Australia on UKTV and ABC2.

  1. I like him very much when I see him interviewed, but I don’t think the format served him that well – too much carry-on in very limited interview time, which is annoying if you have actually tuned in for a particular guest. Sounds like the new format is better suited

  2. The new show takes the old TFI Friday slot and will still have guests but more focus on sketches, games and music. Will also be pre-watershed, so more family friendly.
