Veteran TV personality Ernie Sigley has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

After the Western Bulldogs won the AFL Grand Final some on social media were asking if any media had interviewed the true-blue club supporter.

The 78-year-old Footscray-born presenter was also absent from the MCG.

His family have since said in a statement that Sigley has been living with the disease throughout 2016.

“While he would love to have been at the MCG to watch his beloved Western Bulldogs make history, Ernie had to settle for the live television broadcast,” the family said in a statement.

  1. A great shame that another great talent has been taken by this disease.
My late father suffered the same fate and it is extremely sad to say the least.
More research and money is needed desperately.
