Foxtel Arts has announced a partnership with the Sydney-based Australian Brandenburg Orchestra which will see it feature baroque and classical music.

Paul Dyer, the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra Artistic Director & Co-Founder said: “I am thrilled that we are joining Foxtel Arts as a broadcast partner. This collaboration will allow us to share our live concerts with audiences throughout Australia and celebrate our shared commitment to musical excellence.

Foxtel Arts & Music Channels Manager, Fraser Stark said, “As Foxtel Arts extends its broadcast and promotional relationships with Australia’s leading Orchestras we are very happy indeed to add Brandenburg concerts to the offering of fine music already enjoyed by our subscribers. The unique blending of this orchestra’s commitment to the baroque with frequent visits to some more recent repertoire – all presented with its trademark flare for showmanship will be a treat for our audience. The broadcast partnership with the Brandenburg is an association of which the channel is most proud.”

Foxtel is also a partner with Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and Live Performance Australia, a media partner of the Moran Art Prize and sponsorship partner of Bell Shakespeare, Actors’ Equity and the Australian Writers’ Guild.

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra is a leading voice in the Australian cultural landscape founded by Paul Dyer (co-founder and Artistic Director) with Managing Director Bruce Applebaum in 1989. The Brandenburg has collaborated with some of the world’s leading talents and performed more than 1,000 concerts nationwide, playing music by well-known masters like Bach, Vivaldi and Mozart mixed with lesser known but equally as fascinating composers like Zeleneka, Corette and Merula. The orchestra grows and innovates, challenges and inspires both audience and performer alike.

The first broadcast collaboration, Avi Avital takes the mandolin to places it’s never before been, thrilling audiences with everything from Bach to Bartok. First broadcast in early October on Foxtel Arts, the chemistry between the Brandenburg musicians and Avi is palpable and they bring a concert of lightness, beauty and virtuosity.

The Australian Brandenburg’s next broadcast offering, Noël! Noël! is filled with irresistible choral melodies, much loved carols, rousing sixteenth century hymns, and other rare musical delights from around the world. Showcasing the wonder and surprise of Christmas it has been a favourite feature of previous Brandenburg seasons and, in 2016, it will be recorded at St Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Paddington NSW and broadcast Christmas Eve on Foxtel Arts.
