Sally Sara named ABC News Africa correspondent

Sally Sara will take up ABC News posting in Nairobi next year.

ABC journalist Sally Sara is returning to Africa as ABC News African correspondent, replacing Martin Cuddihy who has completed his three-year posting.

She was previously Africa correspondent from 2000-2005 and South Asia correspondent based in Delhi from 2008-2010.

Sara reported from the frontline in Afghanistan and recently reporting from on the aftermath of the attempted coup in Turkey. She has also reported for Foreign Correspondent and Landline and was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia.

Deputy Director of ABC News Craig McMurtrie said: “Whatever the working environment she faces, Sally has demonstrated time and time again a formidable capacity to find the right person and story that cuts to the heart of an issue.”

Sara will take up the posting in Nairobi next year.
