Sigourney Weaver will return to television to play an unnamed villain in upcoming Netflix series Marvel’s The Defenders.

Weaver joined her co-stars on stage at New York Comic Con: Charlie Cox (Matt Murdock/Daredevil) from Marvel’s Daredevil, Krysten Ritter (Jessica Jones) from Marvel’s Jessica Jones, and Mike Colter (Luke Cage) from Marvel’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones (Danny Rand) from Marvel’s Iron Fist.

“Marvel is honoured to have an actress of her calibre and status join what is already our biggest show ever! She is by definition a class act,” said Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television.

“Sigourney Weaver, what more is there to say,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President of original content at Netflix. “She’s a formidable actress and we are thrilled to have her join our remarkable cast alongside Charlie, Krysten, Mike and Finn.”

  1. Marvel gets more and more curious about how it handles it’s different franchise universes, it would seem that the Marvel Netflix universe is linked by reference only to the movie universe of Thor and Captain America, which in turn has a much stronger plot link with Joss whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. a show that on the small screen usually keeps itself at an arms length from the high rollers seen in the Avengers franchise. This reminds me, where is Stan Lees ‘Lucky Man’ which has been broadcast on Sky and s having a second season.
