Foxtel extends rights to bring more BBC dramas to Foxtel Anytime, Play and Go.

From ITV VICTORIA

Foxtel has extended its deal with BBC Worldwide ANZ adding more UK drama to its on demand services: Foxtel Anytime, Foxtel Play and Foxtel Go.

Full seasons of Top of the Lake (season 1), Detectorists, War and Peace, The Honourable Woman, Thirteen, Banished, Capital and Undercover have already joined the service with Call the Midwife, Happy Valley (seasons 1-2), Maigret, and The Living and the Dead to join in November.

Future seasons will include Victoria, Taboo, Dickensian, The Musketeers (seasons 1-3), SS-GB and One of US.

Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s Executive Director of Television, said, “For decades the BBC has created some of the world’s most celebrated programming and has established a deep connection with Foxtel subscribers. We’re delighted to build on that connection by bringing a host of brilliant BBC dramas and comedies to Foxtel’s library for fans of this incredible entertainment brand to enjoy anytime, on demand.”

Tim Christlieb, Director of Channels BBC Worldwide ANZ, said: “These are some of the best, most popular dramas to come out of the UK and we’re pleased to support Foxtel’s initiative to give their customers access to more of our channels’ content anytime, anyplace.”

The news follows Foxtel extending its partnership with HBO, with new library rights set to kick off from 1 January 2017.

  1. Hooray! Still none of the old classics that I want to watch (quite a few of which I’ll be seeing for the first time). Looks like it’s back to JB HiFi, QuickFlix and the local library for me.

OK, their library is getting impressive, but its still mostly stuff I’ve seen in the last few years. I watch old shows again and again every few years to compliment the new stuff. I don’t want the new stuff to entirely replace the old stuff.

  2. I suppose the ABC will be showing some of these BBC shows as well. I noted some months ago that UK viewers commented that BBC America aired prestige productions like War & Peace weeks before it was released in Britain so plainly the BBC are now more commercial with their product marketing, not that that benefits Australian viewers much if BBC First broadcast dates on Foxtel are any indication.

  3. Glad to hear Musketeers season 3 will be on demand in the near future as I lost the entire season on my IQ3 when it blew up on the weekend. Now just a half dozen more shows to wait for replays or to be added to Stan or Netflix.
