Composer, conductor Allan Zavod, who has written scores for over 40 films, documentaries, television and theatre, has died aged 71.

He died on Monday at his home surrounded by family and friends, according to his website.

Zavod has written scores for over 40 films, documentaries, television and theatre, including a US movie with Eric Clapton, a film for Disney and the Theatre production of The Hobbit.

Zavod scored feature films including “Death of a Soldier”,  “The Big Hurt”, ” The Right Hand Man”, “Communion”, “Martians Go Home”, “A Taste of Money”, “Day of the Panther”, “Sebastian and the Sparrow” , Hot Blooded American Woman” , “Fatal Sky”, “Full Fathom Five” , “Garbo” and “Shotgun Wedding.”

In Television he scored for Secrets, A Country Practice, Lil’ Elvis and the Truckstoppers, Bush Patrol, State Coroner and Good Vibrations. He was also a music director for Good Morning Australia.
