Star Trek: Discovery co-creator Bryan Fuller has now confirmed he is no longer involved with the project, after previously exiting as showrunner.

“I’m not involved in production, or postproduction, so I can only give them the material I’ve given them and hope that it is helpful for them,” Fuller told Newsweek. “I’m curious to see what they do with it.”

He retains an executive producer credit.

Originally set for a January, 2017 premiere the reimagining was pushed back to May 2017 at the request of Fuller and Kurtzman to allow more time for special effects.

“We are all committed to seeing this vision through,” CBS said in October, when Fuller exited as showrunner.

Star Trek: Discovery will screen in Australia on Netflix.

  1. To my mind the TV studios previous forays into the Star Trek universe, post Gene Roddenberry, was assisted by the stereotype trekkie storylines and talent agency soap actors who are obviously trained for multiple roles in long running shows, Fans have to remember that Star Trek has to fit in with the likes of an American audience even if it’s being streamed, Netflix is currently leading the way in marketing and having quality independent productions, perhaps the producers of this latest Star Trek voyage could gain a few hints from them.

  2. A great shame that Fuller is leaving this project, I don’t know if its just me but I get the feeling that Kurtzman may be stretched a little too thin between his Star Trek: Discovery and also running Sleepy Hollow and Scorpion. Both Sleepy Hollow and Scorpion have really started to look quite tired compared to Kurtzman’s earlier work in Fringe. I wouldn’t be surprised if there are problems between the show runners and CBS, as CBS are really only doing this to kickstart thier own CBS All Access streaming service and move the back catalogue of Trek off Netflix, yet another cynical attempt to start another subscription streaming service which will fail.
