Jon Casimir quits ABC to join new Andrew Denton production co.

Powerful duo are reuniting with a new production company on the way.

ABC Head of Entertainment Jon Casimir has resigned after 3 years with the public broadcaster -to reunite with Andrew Denton for his new production company.

Casimir has a long history with Denton at Zapruder’s Other Films before it was sold to Cordell Jigsaw. He was a producer on Enough Rope and The Gruen Transfer, prior to joining CJZ and subsequently ABC.

At ABC he has overseen titles including Gruen, The Checkout, The Weekly with Charlie Pickering, Hard Quiz, You Can’t Ask That and Chaser titles.

ABC Director of TV Richard Finlayson told staff via email, Casimir leaves big shoes to fill.

“We have already started the recruitment process and hope to have a new Head of Entertainment ready to go before Jon leaves. Jon’s attention will be on delivering a number of big projects we have underway right now,” he wrote.

“While Jon will continue to lead the team, Lou Porter will take responsibility for business issues, Richard Huddleston will look after all new pitches and Tarni James will continue to look after production in Melbourne. The Entertainment team is strong across the board and I have every confidence in them during this period of change.”

Denton’s return to production is significant, given he had quit television in 2013.

He has been consulting for Stan in recent years.
