The US adaptation of Shameless has been renewed for an eighth season.
Season seven ranked as the highest-rated season to date, with the show being in the top five cable dramas among total viewers in the US.
The pickup is little surprise after Emmy Rossum negotiated a new deal to return to the series following a salary standoff in which she demanded equal pay with William H. Macy.
Macy recently renegotiated his contract that reportedly puts his salary in the upper echelon of cable dramas.
Production on the 12-episode season will begin in May.
Shameless is currently airing in Australia on Showcase.
