New Child Safe Standards for Victorian producers

New Child Safe Standards for organisations in Victoria came into effect on January 1st, meaning production companies that have contact with children must comply with the standards.

The legislation requires all organisations, including production companies, to have in place both a Child Safe Policy and a Code of Conduct for everyone who is employed by or otherwise works with the company.

This includes all cast and crew on productions in Victoria involving children, regardless of whether those persons would otherwise require a working with children check, and must be complied with.

“Child” is defined as anyone under 18.
