Jeff Kennett: ‘One-sided portrayal is unfair’

Seven West Media board member presents the other side of the argument as affair saga deepens.

Seven West Media board member Jeff Kennett has publicly weighed into the Tim Worner / Amber Harrison affair in a lengthy piece for the Herald Sun.

It follows Harrison sending him tweets recently and continued headlines in the fallout of the affair. This week Seven won an injunction preventing Harrison from further statements on social media.

Kennett says the pair had “a consensual relationship while employees at Seven West Media that started in 2012 and finished in July 2014.

He outlines alleged misuse of a company credit card, several agreements and payments, which came with various confidentiality stipulations.

Kennett claims SWM has paid Harrison close to $330,000 and $50,000 to her lawyers “for a relationship that she entered freely and which continued for less than two years. This is not an issue of gender.”

“But I will not agree to any further payments, nor allow Ms Harrison’s attacks on SWM and its staff to go unanswered. The one-sided public portrayal of her claims is unfair, not accurate and in my opinion ignores the generosity that SWM has extended to Ms Harrison.”

Kennett, who is also chairman of Beyond Blue, did not address allegations of drug taking nor detail why SWM board member Shirley McGregor resigned the day before the board cleared its CEO of misconduct.

“But enough is enough — and $380,000-plus is certainly enough. In fact you could say it’s too much for a consensual relationship that lasted less than two years,” he wrote.

Amber Harrison is currently under a court injunction preventing her from comment.

Seven will today release its interim results to media and shareholders.

  1. Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse up pops Jeff Kennett. (“When I leave politics you’ll never hear from me again. I’ll be in my garden growing daffodils”)

  2. one sided affair, what a load bull dust clap trap. Its obvious Jeff Kennett has learnt nothing, since he’s no longer the Premier of Victoria.

if you can’t take the heat, then get off the board of the company.

This is so typical of the 7 Network. Cry foul all the time, and/or take everything to court, to shut them up.

Well I say F(bomb) you. You will never ever shut me up.
