Married at First Sight, Vera win on Sunday.

Ratings: MAFS hits a series high, but the upset of the night goes to ABC topping Sunday Night & 60 Minutes.

Married at First Sight hit a series high last night at 1.17m viewers, enough to eclipse My Kitchen Rules (1.06m) once again.

In a night where Seven and Nine were locked in a wafer-thin battle, Nine’s show also topped the Demos.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here was some distance behind at 685,000 rising to 712,000 for the elimination of Tegan Martin.

But the real news of the night was ABC’s Vera (828,000) topping both Sunday Night (733,000) and 60 Minutes (688,000). It follows a timeslot win by Midsomer Murders last Sunday. TEN’s Bull premiered in fourth place at 478,000, well up on 24: Legacy last week.

Nine led on primary channels but Seven’s multichannels helped them over the line, thanks largely toan Armageddon movie replay.

Seven network won with 29.8% then Nine 29.5%, ABC 17.3%, TEN 16.6% and SBS 6.7%.

My Kitchen Rules drew 1.06m viewers for Seven followed by Seven News (977,000), Sunday Night and (733,000). The Blacklist was just 260,000.

Married at First Sight was #1 with 1.17m viewers for Nine then Nine News (1.05m), 60 Minutes (688,000) and Lethal Weapon was 360,000.

Vera (828,000) was a top performer for ABC. ABC News (722,000) and Grand Designs (646,000) followed.

I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here drew 685,000 rising to 712,000 for the elimination. Bull premiered to 478,000, Bondi Rescue was 313,000, TEN Eyewitness News was 210,000 in 3 markets. 24: Legacy was just 102,000.

On SBS it was The Lost Tribes of Humanity (223,000), Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras and SBS World News (both 193,000).

7mate’s movie Armageddon topped multichannels with 209,000.

  1. Sunday Night and 60 Minutes should air straight after the news – not many want to go back into news / current affairs after relaxing watching reality fluff beforehand. Both shows used to pull much bigger ratings earlier in the night. Do half hour news, then 60mins/SN and then reality from 7.30 – that way realities are on 7.30 every night they air.

  2. Vera’s about half an hour too long. If she was for real she would have got the drug addicted woman’s medical records immediately and solved the case before the opening credits.

    1. And why would the Detective Chief Inspector have cause to “immediately access” the medical records of the daughter of the murder victim? (And long before it was revealed she had a drug addiction?)

  3. Further proof that people want to watch shows other than reality and current affairs…even though the ABC are a season behind with Vera and Death In Paradise they still attract viewers.
