Ronan Keating joins Love Child in cast overhaul

Former Voice coach is in, but the Love Child ensemble is making big changes for 2017.

Former coach on The Voice, Ronan Keatin,g is joining the fourth season of Love Child, as part of a major cast overhaul.

Keating, who acted in the 2013 Aussie feature Goddess, makes his Australian television acting debut alongside Jessica Marais, Mandy McElhinney, Miranda Tapsell, Sophie Hensser-Bloom, Harriet Dyer and Andrew Ryan.

Keating said, “I’m very excited to be returning to Sydney to join the incredible cast of Love Child for a special appearance in the new series. Australia and the amazing people there have been incredibly welcoming to me over the past 25 years, it always feels like home. So it’s great to get the chance to show them another side of what I do in Nine Network’s award winning drama.”

Also joining the cast are Matt Day (Rake, Tangle), Dan Hamill (House Husbands, Jack Irish), Danielle Catanzariti (Hey Hey it’s Esther Blueburger), Darcie Irwin-Simpson (Soul Mates) and Sophia Forrest (The Water Diviner).

Meanwhile Jonathan LaPaglia is no longer part of the show whilst Matt LeNevez, Gracie Gilbert, Lincoln Younes, Ella Scott Lynch, Maya Stange, Tiarnie Coupland and Jeremy Lindsay Taylor are all understood to not be returning.

“Viewers of all ages will fall in love with the fresh new faces and gripping stories in season four of Love Child. It’s an exciting new era for the characters of Kings Cross Hospital and we’re thrilled to bring audiences the new series of Australia’s most compelling drama,” said Jo Rooney and Andy Ryan, Heads of Drama for the Nine Network.

Life has moved on for those who revolve around the world of Stanton House, it’s now 1972, the year of Gough Whitlam, the grooves of funk music, free education and immigration. Times are changing, and so are our girls.

From an original concept by Sarah Lambert, Love Child is produced by Playmaker for the Nine Network, with executive producers Andy Ryan, Jo Rooney, David Maher, David Taylor and Sarah Smith and producer Sue Seeary with the assistance of Screen NSW and Screen Australia.

  1. I love the show but with so many of the original cast not returning for season 4 perhaps they should have ended the series after season 3.
No Ella Scott Lynch, Gracie Gilbert and Jonathan La Paglia is huge.

  2. Perhaps this was a sweetener in his contract to get him to do The Voice. Once you have an exodus of original cast leaving you know a show is in trouble.

  3. Lame. I hate stunt casting. It makes the producers look silly and desperate, but then I can’t remember the last time Nine commissioned any scripted content of value.

  4. The Voice judge Ronan Keating joins Love Child …. The Voice judge Delta Goodrem joins House Husbands … and then there was The Voice (former) host Darren McMullen who joined House Husbands which went belly up when he defected to Seven.
    Can Seal act?
