It's a cheap & cheerful week, with makeovers for girls bedrooms, a veggie spiralizer and travel days for $5 bucks.

It’s all cheap & cheerful this week on The Living Room, with makeovers for girls bedrooms, a veggie spiralizer and travel days for $5 bucks.

Renovations with Barry Du Bois
Busy mum Lisa has her hands full with two young daughters. Both of their rooms are small and in desperate need of storage. They spend less and less time in their rooms and their toys are starting to invade the rest of the home. For the first design challenge of the year, Barry calls in designers James Treble and team Kyal and Kara to makeover the girls rooms. Each are given one room to design, with the brief to create enough storage so they can grow with the girls. It is not just the girls who the designers need to please, but also the judge – mum.

Food with Miguel Maestre
Any parent knows how difficult it can be to make sure children eat their vegetables on a daily basis, but life is made a lot easier with the help of a nifty device called a spiralizer. Miguel, along with a group of children, demonstrates how fun eating vegetables can be. They give the spiralizer a test run and it proves dinner time can be fun and eating vegetables can be enjoyable too.

Travel with Shannan Ponton
With Dr. Chris Brown still in South Africa for I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!, Shannan Ponton is keeping things exciting as resident travel expert. As a dad, he knows how expensive a family day out can be. This week, he is determined to bust the myth and prove families can splurge on fun activities, for little price. Shannan leaves his wallet at home and heads to town with his son Max, carrying nothing more than an Opal card and a backpack containing lunch and water. On their fun family day out, Shannan and Max take a scenic boat ride, eat lunch with a million-dollar view and visit an island with some incredible history and adventures, all for just five dollars.

7:30pm Friday on TEN.
