Aussie producer to showrun new talent series in Canada

Former MasterChef producer to find unsigned singing talent in The Launch.

Australian producer Paul Franklin (MasterChef, The Biggest Loser) will be showrunner on a new talent contest, The Launch, for Canada’s CTV.

Franklin is co-developer of the series being produced with Canada’s Bell Media and record label Big Machine, who discovered Taylor Swift.

The six-part series will be shot over 48 hours as a group of unsigned musicians perform original songs in front of a panel of veteran hit makers.

Two artists are then chosen to perform in front of a live audience, with the hit makers ultimately deciding which version of the songs will be commercially released across the country. Songs will be promoted through Bell Media’s 30 local TV, 30 cable channels and four Pay TV services.

Paul Franklin’s Australian production company Eureka is currently producing The Chef’s Line for SBS and Behave Yourself for Seven.
