Ben McCormack hospitalised

Suspended ACA reporter was hospitalised just days after his arrest.

Suspended A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack was hospitalised yesterday just days after his arrest and charges relating to child pornography.

Fairfax reports the 42-year-old went to hospital on Monday for a mental health assessment.

His lawyer, Sam Macedone, said last night he did not know how long McCormack would be in hospital.

“His wellbeing is looked after,” he said. “I can’t tell you exactly what happened or why he is there.

“He is in hospital, he is currently still there and I don’t know how long he will be there.”

Mr Macedone will seek a bail variation so his client will not need to report to police while he is in hospital.

He also told News Corp what was being reported differed from the police fact sheet.

“What is being alleged isn’t complete because as I understand it the police are still investigating the matters,” he said.

“I have no idea what the final allegations will be.”

The case goes to court on May 1st.
