Sarah Monahan shocked at Ben McCormack allegations

Former Hey Dad star watching ACA case from afar.

Former Hey Dad star Sarah Monahan, who waged a campaign against now-convicted pedophile Robert Hughes through A Current Affair, is said to be shocked by revelations surrounding reporter Ben McCormack.

On Thursday McCormack was arrested and charged for allegedly sending child abuse material.

Peter Ford told FIVEaa US-based Monahan considered ACA and McCormack played a pivotal role in Hughes’ downfall.

“She doesn’t want to release a statement, but she said to me she’s so shocked and she wants to see it play out before she makes any comment,” he said.

McCormack’s strict bail conditions include a ban on accessing the internet, not being in the company of a child under the age of 16 except family members where an adult is present, avoiding areas known to be frequented by children such as playgrounds and schools, reporting to police twice a week, surrendering his passport, and a ban on social media use even via a third party.

Fairfax Media reports police will allege McCormack committed the offence over a period of time, not just as a one-off. The Daily Telegraph reports he was on a “one-strike-and-you’re-out” arrangement with Nine following a workplace incident which was addressed by Nine internally.

Nine suspended McCormack on Thursday with A Current Affair vowing to pursue the case “without fear or favour.”

He has also been suspended from North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club where he served as a Nippers trainer.

McCormack will appear in court on 1 May.
