Solid night for Seven

Ratings: A volatile MKR was light years ahead of its competition. Stargazing Live takes a little dipper for ABC.

A volatile episode of My Kitchen Rules, in which one contestant had a meltdown before the cameras, did its job in the ratings with a bumper 1.34m viewers.

The show was light years in front of the competition, 7:30 ranked second at 527,000 followed by The Graham Norton Show (which improved things for TEN slightly) and Planet Earth II screening in 4 cities.

Million Dollar Cold Case also did well for Seven with a double episode as high as 655,000 from 9pm.

Stargazing Live took a little dipper on its second night at 546,000 but was still enough to lead, save for MKR‘s playout. The Weekly aired in a later 9:30pm timeslot.

Nine’s night lacked much to get excited about but A Current Affair won its slot with a decent 858,000.

Seven network easily won the night with 34.0% then Nine 25.8%, ABC 17.3%, TEN 16.4% and SBS 6.5%.

  1. I’ve now seen the ratings for Chef’s Line but won’t say what it is in respect to David – only to say though Letters & Numbers used to do more – but may be on par now based on the average decline of everything else … I miss Letters & Numbers so much that I am still recording repeats and watching them sometimes… The episode where my wife was a contestant was recently on – which means the one where I am a contestant is a few months away assuming they continue playing out in order…

  2. Glad Graham Norton did well, up from his last Friday outing of 414,000 as well.

Now Channel TEN imagine if you ran it inline with the UK and had it on at 7:30pm, what would have the ratings been for the Carrie Fisher episode fr one. Also how about when the cast of Trainspotting 2 were on, wouldn’t that have been nice as the film was being released, plus the bonus of being able to say featuring Jonny Lee Miller from TEN’s Elementary.

Pity the next one which is the season finale compilation episode will likely be the last ahead of Masterchef, as the Graham Norton Show starts back in the UK April 07th (tomorrow) and you could have gone straight into it (saving the compilation episode for another time).

    1. And while we’re at it Ten, why play shows like The Talk days later than the US – and Dr Phil weeks or more after the US. All these sort of overseas shows should be same day (as in within 24 hours) of international screening. In my opinion all US & international shows should air same day. Ten should catch up with all international shows and do everything same day – could be a massive point of difference for the network have help them overall.

  3. I’m a little surprised Stargazing Live held up as well as it did – it really doesn’t gel at all & I thought it might crash after people checked out the first episode (although I suppose we persisted with the second ep, and peoplemetered people obviously did too).

Go Shaun! Teach that strangely-clean pig a lesson 😉

    1. Yeah I agree. The female host seemed out of her depth next to Brian Cox, but then most people would be. I would be!! The show seemed disjointed and not very polished.
