Axed: Sleepy Hollow

The axe falls on the headless horseman...

US supernatural series Sleepy Hollow has been axed after four seasons.

The series, based on “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” wrapped its lowest-rated US season yet in March. Season 4 was ordered with a shorter run of 13 episodes, after every other season saw 18 episodes.

FOX is due to reveal its Upfronts later this month.

Starring Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison, Sleepy Hollow aired in Australia on ELEVEN.

  1. Yes like a lot of people here it seems I wasn’t the only one whom enjoyed Sleepy Hollow in its early days, but found that the writing and repetative stories meant that the quality really dropped off, which is a shame, as the idea and the casting were great, but they just seemed to lose their way/momentum and sunk into mediocrity after season 2 or so.

In my opinion it totally got surpassed by the much superior efforts of Outlander and Salem – which seemed to have a better idea of where they were going.

  2. Sleepy Hollow was lucky to get this final season after Nicole Beharie ended her role of Abbie Mills, the forced ending of the relationship forming between Abbie and Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison) was not a good move for the show. This final season does not appear to be as well developed and lacks much that’s appealing for audiences missing the relationship of Abbie and Crane. In a YouTube interview last year Tom hinted that not all was well with the production, so it was only a matter of time. I hope that Tom Mison will be seen again sometime in the future.

  3. It really suffered after they tried to postpone Nicole Beharie’s departure in season 3. What chance we will see it play out on eleven David? I was hoping they would slot it in once Supernatural was finished….

  4. I got bored after the first two seasons too. I wont really miss this show, but I will miss Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” That got the chop too.
