Ben McCormack to defend charges, remains in hospital.

Ben McCormack remains hospitalised and does not appear at Downing Centre Local Court today.

Suspended Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack will remain on bail following a Court mention this morning, but will defend charges relating to child pornography.

McCormack’s lawyer Macedone tendered a medical certificate to Downing Centre Local Court explaining that his client did not appear because he was still in hospital.

McCormack, 42, is accused of engaging in sexually explicit conversations about children with another man and discussing child pornography.

The Commonwealth prosecutor told the court the charges were indictable offences carrying a maximum penalty of 15 years in jail.

McCormack has been suspended by the Nine Network and North Bondi Life Saving Club where he trained nippers.

Macedone asked that the bail condition requiring that he report regularly to police remain suspended while he is in hospital.

The case will return to court in July.
