Rebel Wilson denies misleading court

Rebel Wilson is cross-examined about when she was fired from US movies, and claims she is related to Walt Disney.

Rebel Wilson had been fired from US films before Woman’s Day magazine articles had been published, according to Bauer Media.

Yesterday in court Georgina Schoff, QC, for Bauer Media, questioned Wilson about a “termination document” for Trolls that was dated “as of” April 2015 -about a month before the article at the centre of the defamation trial.

But Wilson said the contract may have been “back-dated” – a common practice for Hollywood contracts. She denied misleading the court.

Wilson also has 3 upcoming Hollywood films, Isn’t It Romantic for New Line, a new version of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels with Anne Hathaway known as Nasty Women for MGM, Pitch Perfect 3 for Universal -contradicting claims the article made her unemployable.

“But since … 2016 I didn’t book any new roles.

“Of course I did little things, but for someone who just starred in the most successful comedy musical of all time, it’s very unusual.

“I’m not claiming my career is ruined forever,” she continued.

Wilson was also questioned over claims she is related to Walt Disney.

SCHOFF: And you know that there is no evidence of any connection between you and Mr Walt Disney, don’t you?

WILSON: No, as far as I’m concerned, I am a distant — it is a distant relationship, but it is something I’m proud of.

SCHOFF: What evidence do you point to, Ms Wilson?

WILSON: I was just always told by my nanna that that was the case.

SCHOFF: But you have not yourself sought to undertake any research?

WILSON: I don’t know why I would. It is just something I’ve always known. It is like knowing who your parents are.

The case continues.

  1. But – following on from my last comment, the appalling fabrications that these awful magazines get away with is dreadful, and I’m glad that someone has taken them on. I stopped buying mags years ago – I wish everyone else would do the same, and make the mags suffer where it hurts – the bank account!

  2. ““Of course I did little things, but for someone who just starred in the most successful comedy musical of all time, it’s very unusual.” Oh puh-lease! The most successful comedy musical of all time? I don’t think so! Perhaps of the last 5-10 years, but this statement completely discounts all the great comedy musicals of the past! This woman should have a big think before she opens her mouth! And maybe check her ego at the court-room door!

  3. I really hope she wins this case. The lies or half truths these types of magazines do each week is just terrible. People should stop buying the mags. They really are awful.
