Tasmanian Media Awards 2017: winners

ABC News and WIN TV were amongst winners at Tasmanian Media Awards last week.

ABC News and WIN TV were amongst winners at Tasmanian Media Awards last week.

ABC News’ Richard Baines was named Journalist of the Year and also took out the Best News Story.

WIN TV’s Brent Costelloe (pictured, left) took out Best Sports Coverage for the fourth consecutive year while Matt Growcott took home his first win for Best News Image for his shots of the Moonah Siege.

WIN Hobart Station Manager Tony Fox said “It is a testament to the commitment of Tasmania’s WIN News team, the focus on their craft and specifically the commitment to excellence from Brent Costelloe and Matthew Growcott for their awards and to Ben Hansen as a finalist in his category.”

WIN Network News Director Stella Lauri added, “It’s a wonderful achievement and testament to the dedication of our reporters and camera operators. It takes a team to produce quality news bulletins each night – these awards are deserved recognition for the entire newsroom.”
