Walkout pushes House Rules high

Ratings: Heavily-promoted episode scores for Seven. HYBPA? claws back share for TEN.

A heavily-promoted walkout by reality contestants has helped push House Rules to the top of the leaderboard last night, with its highest-rating episode this year.

The show, in which two contestants walked out of a judging, drew 1.27m viewers, well ahead of The Voice (947,000) and a sliding MasterChef (765,000). Seven’s renovation show also managed to top the demos for a second night in a row.

But TEN managed to claw back an 8:30 win with Have You Been Paying Attention?, save for earlier extended shows, ahead of Seven Year Switch and an extended Four Corners.

Hot Seat enjoyed its highest outing in the 2017 survey, but not enough to unseat The Chase.

Seven News and ACA also won their slots.

Seven network won Monday with 31.4% then Nine 25.9%, TEN 19.5%, ABC 17.4% and SBS 5.8%.

House Rules was #1 with 1.27m then Seven News (1.14m / 1.1m), Home and Away (800,000), The Chase (688,000 / 409,000), Seven Year Switch (660,000) and Ramsay’s Hotel Hell (374,000).

Nine News (1.12m / 1.12m) led for Nine then A Current Affair (993,000), The Voice (947,000) and Hot Seat (605,000 / 344,000). Footy Classified was 208,000 in 3 cities. Madonna: Rebel Heart Tour was just 100,000 in 2 cities.

On SBS it was 24 Hours in Emergency (184,000), Dr. Christian Will See You Now (137,000) and SBS World News (136,000).

7TWO’s Foyle’s War had a rare lead atop multichannels with 234,000.

  1. Gee, House Rules is on fire this year!

Seven would be over the moon.

Permitted it doesn’t fall back down to earth now, as well as less competition for MasterChef tonight.

    1. The ratings may be higher at the stage. It seems 7 are being rewarded by the bitchiness and drama and reformatting that drags out the show by splitting the reveal and judgement into two eps. It is annoying and yet more people are watching. They have really made it like that kitchen show. I liked it when it was renovating and judging, the rest is fluff!

      1. Wow, yes Joe Snell wasn’t great but Drew ain’t either. As for the “Villains” trashy tv for me I’m tuning out after the 6th house reveal and ‘judgement’!
