House Rules, First Dates combo wins for Seven.

Ratings: A close tussle between 8:40pm shows last night, but Seven came out on top. Nine led early evening news shows.

It was game on at 8:40 last night with a close tussle between new and established titles. 4 of them were in the 500,000 – 600,000 range.

First Dates edged in front with 589,000 viewers for Seven ahead of NCIS, David Stratton’s Stories of Australian Cinema (at 8:30pm) and Love Child which has had a run of low lead-ins this season.

Earlier House Rules won its slot ahead of MasterChef and 7:30.  A refreshed 20 to One had to settle for 4th in its timeslot.

Nine News and ACA both won their timeslots for Nine.

Seven network won Tuesday with 29.9% then Nine 24.0%, TEN 21.8%, ABC 16.8% and SBS 7.4%.

Seven News (1.13m / 1.08m) led for Seven then House Rules (1.09m), Home and Away (790,000), The Chase (661,000 / 412,000), First Dates (589,000) and Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares (311,000).

Nine News was #1 for Nine with 1.15m / 1.12m followed by A Current Affair (945,000), Hot Seat (613,000 / 344,000), 20 to One (530,000) and Love Child (523,000). Operation Thailand was 269,000.

MasterChef Australia (927,000) scored for TEN then The Project (637,000 / 420,000), NCIS (565,000), TEN Eyewitness News (532,000), Family Feud (409,000) and NCIS: LA (379,000).

ABC News (778,000) topped ABC’s night followed by 7:30 (565,000), David Stratton’s Stories of Australian Cinema (555,000), Ask the Doctor (475,000) and Foreign Correspondent (334,000).

On SBS it was Insight (375,000), Great Continental Railway Journeys (340,000), Dateline (199,000) and SBS World News (137,000).

Shaun the Sheep showed off with 255,000 topping multichannels.

  1. Hot seat frequently has more viewers on the east coast than The Chase as does the six,o,clock news, but both mostly have the edge with total people.

  2. Seriously Nine could run a live feed of The Second Coming in Perth while TEN ran rolling coverage of Aliens landing in Washington and Seven would still win showing the Test Pattern.
    I do hope 20 to 1 is a very cheap clip show based on its ratings performance.

  3. I reckon seven will be disappointed with First Dates. It lost half a million viewers from House Rules. At 589,000 it must be it’s lowest result ever? Shame as it was a good episode.

      1. MasterChef has always rated well in Perth, it was beating the other realities there for the first few weeks this season.

        But Brisbane, yes, has looked a concern for some years now. They love reno shows.
