Roadshow TV picks up US teen dramas

Roadshow TV gets ANZ distribution rights for Guidance, t@gged & Freakish.

Roadshow Television has secured Australia & New Zealand rights to three youth-oriented dramas from US media company, AwesomenessTV, which creates content for Hulu, Netflix, YouTube, go90, iTunes, Instagram, and Snapchat.

The slate includes two seasons of Guidance (pictured), a high school anthology series featuring Michelle Trachtenberg (Gossip Girl) and Erica Dasher (Jane by Design); two seasons of t@gged, described as ‘Pretty Little Liars meets social media’; and Freakish, a high school zombie drama produced for Hulu.

“Roadshow Television is excited to be working with AwesomenessTV to bring their premium content to the market, solidifying our strategy of expanding Roadshow’s television slate and bringing a fresh approach to reaching younger audiences in a market dominated by social media,’ said Roadshow Films Co-CEO Chris Chard. “There are not many entertainment companies who create stand-out content that is relevant for our younger audiences and AwesomenessTV has nailed it.”

Rebecca Glashow, Awesomeness’ Head of Worldwide Distribution, added, “Roadshow Television is a natural fit with our brand and ethos. We are both vibrant, agile companies who rise and adapt to the changing needs and demands of today’s audiences.”
