Returning: You Can’t Ask That

ABC2 will screen three episodes which have not been aired -starting with S&M.

ABC2 will screen three editions of You Can’t Ask That which have not been aired previously on ABC.

The first of these tackles the contentious fetish of S&M (somebody alert the Senate Estimates committee for Michelle Guthrie’s next appearance?).

In this confronting and irreverent episode, we meet people who practise S&M and allow them to put to bed the common perception that there’s something wrong with them.

“I’m his slave. I’m his wife as well, but if you ask me, I’m his slave first and his wife second” says Kim who lives in a 24 hour-a-day master and slave relationship with her husband, Master Joe. He agrees, “She doesn’t even get Christmas off.” However, Kim concedes that sex doesn’t always involve someone getting hurt, “Sometimes he may want to f*** me in a BDSM way. But sometimes he may just want to make love to me, because I’m his wife.”

Liam Clark grew up in a small country town, when asked how he realised he was into S&M, he explains, “Being a gay teen in the country, the internet is your best friend. It evolved into me meeting a guy who was into rubber and him letting me try it on. I was like ‘Heck yes! This is what I’m into. This is hot’. Then I ejaculated harder than I’d ever come before.”

Mel Bell from Sydney responds to a question about why she can’t get off having normal sex. “If I’m having sexual relations with somebody, if there’s no kink or BDSM involved, I’d rather just have a cup of tea. Seriously. Perverted to me is missionary sex with the lights on. It’s terrifying.”

For a few though, friends and families haven’t always responded well to their lifestyle choices. Kitty from Launceston shares what one of her friends said to her. “They actually said to me ‘I can’t be your friend anymore because you can’t be trusted around my kids. If you allow somebody to hit you, how can I trust you not to let somebody hit my kids?”

Friday 7 July 9.50pm on ABC2.
