Ben McCormack case adjourned until September

Case against suspended ACA reporter faced a huge media pack outside Downing Centre Court this morning.

Suspended A Current Affair reporter Ben McCormack appeared in Downing Centre Local Court this morning following his arrest on child pornography offences.

The case has been adjourned until September 5 as police work to complete their brief of evidence.

Lawyer Sam Macedone told court the brief of evidence had been partially served and prosecutors were waiting for more police statements.

McCormack, 43, faces one count of using a carriage service to send child porn materials over the internet.

Outside the court a huge media pack filmed McCormack’s arrival, but he did not comment.

Macedone told media, “None of the charges that have been levelled against him involves pictures or explicit details of young kids.

“It’s got nothing to do with the usual child pornography where you’ve got young children being photographed or in a video or anything like that. It’s nothing more than a discussion and that’s all there is.”

He did not say what that plea will be.
