Johann group shot was intentional, say Ninja producers.

A group shot of the late Johann Ofner was part of his tribute and not a mistake, according to Ninja Warrior producers.

Producers maintain the inclusion of the late Johan Ofner in a group shot on Australian Ninja Warrior was not an error.

Ofner, a stuntman who was tragically killed in an unrelated set accident earlier this year, was seen in a group shot alongside fellow contestants and host ‘Freddie’ Flintoff.

He was also included in the leaderboard which showed he finished 6th.

He had previously been honoured in an on-screen dedication (pictured above) after producers Endemol Shine Australia consulted with family, as well as the leaderboard, despite some reports it was an error.

Last week programming director Hamish Turner told TV Tonight, “We had to respect the family’s requests that we did a nice tribute at the end, very simple, and then we’re out. But he remained within the leaderboard to show that he was there.”

Today media reports suggest his surprise appearance in the finale was another mistake, however an Endemol Shine spokesperson said, “Contrary to reports, Johann Ofner’s inclusion in the leaderboards throughout and the closing moments of Australian Ninja Warrior were intentional and part of our tribute to an incredible athlete.”

Meanwhile, Nine is also under fire for a news watermark which indicated Fred Dorrington would be appearing on the Today show this morning. As it happens, Dorrington completed more of the course than any other -leaving some on social media to suggest it was a spoiler by Nine.
