Returning: Sherlock

Hurrah! At last, we will finally get to see the second (cumber)batch of Sherlock telemovies.

There are three in the new season, set to screen on Nine on Wednesday, February 15, at 8.30pm.

The first season was dastardly stuff… looking forward to this!

Business has never been better for the dynamic duo of Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John Watson (Martin Freeman) since Dr Watson’s online blog took off – and their cases have never been more gripping.

In the premiere episode of the new series (A Scandal in Belgravia) Sherlock’s brother, Mycroft convinces him …

Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Gen repeat

After less than enthralling figures last night TEN has slated a repeat of Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation for 7:30pm Saturday.

It’s still a good show (and what they did to Amanda Keller was a hoot), but viewers are clearly unhappy with it being moved around the schedule so much. It pulled 678,000 viewers last night.

Saturday’s line-up now looks like this:

6:30 Young Talent Time rpt
7:30 Talkin’ ‘Bout Your Generation rpt
8:40pm The Graham Norton Show
9:40pm An Idiot Abroad: The Bucket List premiere
10:40pm Movie: The Interpreter rpt

Harry’s Law update

A number of readers have been asking about the timeslot for Harry’s Law on Nine.

The next episode is scheduled to air at 11:30pm Monday February 6th.

“Gorilla My Dreams”
Adam and Cassie defend a vigilante who dresses as Wonder Woman and avenges abused women; and Harry tries to adopt a gorilla.

This means Damages has been pushed back to 12:30am. Maybe it was better off on GEM at an earlier time after all….

Four Corners: Feb 6

Four Corners returns to television on Monday with “Revolution in the Classroom”, an investigation by reporter Matthew Carney into a new approach to education aimed at improving the standard of school teaching.

The show visits three very different schools and talks to the people who are trying to change the system from within.

For some time now there’s been a bruising debate about the balance of funding handed out to public and private schools. No one doubts it’s an important debate, but many educators believe it has helped obscure an even more fundamental question …

Q & A: Feb 6

Economist, Judith Sloan

News Ltd Columnist, Joe Hildebrand

Though summer is almost over, Australian politics is already back on the boil and Q&A is back.

Kitchen Cabinet: sneak peek

What’s Liberal MP Christopher Pyne like as a chef? Pretty hopeless, apparently.

So when he has to cook for Annabel Crabb on her upcoming ABC series Kitchen Cabinet he asks friend Amanda Vanstone to take charge. Was it like that in the Howard Government too?

That’s what this new series is really all about, chatting to politicians in an informal environment and finding out more about them in unguarded moments. Lots of metaphors in the kitchen too (where are the knives people?).

But Pyne has a bash at the BBQ before Crabb asks him whether he has any friends on the other side …
