Next week FOX8 airs a live satellite broadcast of the American Idol Grand Final.
It will air at 10am on Thursday, May 26th (and yes TV Tonight is planning to blog live results) and replays at 7:30pm.
I’ve been very impressed with the fact this show has stood up without Mr. Simon Cowell on board. Everybody expected it to fall over, but Jennifer Lopez, and especially Steven Tyler, have worked a treat.
How interesting that in 2011 a show can still work without the judges having to be nasty.
The talent they uncovered was also excellent, but my only beef is that all the best singers have departed.

What are we left with? Lauren, Scotty and Haley -with one more to face the boot this week.
After a long season of competing alongside America‘s best singers, the two remaining finalists go head to head in their last chance to impress the judges, and America, with the hope of being crowned American Idol 2011! I wasn’t sure about Jennifer and Steven as judges but they have been great. Great talent picked this year also, I will be cheering for Hayley but most likely Scotty will win you know the Christian vote and teenage girls a case in point when Kris Allen won over Adam Lambert in 2009.
Most of my fav’s come second Crystal Bowersox from last year, Adam Lambert or further like 4th, Jennifer Hudson, Daughtry but have had a couple of wins, Carrie Underwood another good year, David Cook. So hopefully I just haven’t given Hayley the kiss of death. As some years have shown you don’t have to win to have a successful career after Idol.
I think the Final 3 will all go on to do great things. I predicted Lauren to win from the very first episode she appeared in, and I still hope that she does.
I think American Idol has worked really well this year. I think the combination of great talent, great chemistry between the judges and well polished production have made for a very entertaining and watchable season.
Haley is good. but she don’t have it. i cant see her measuring up to kelly clarkson or carrie underwood or even daughtry. All of you people are insane if you think its not coming down to lauren and scotty. To be totally honest we will probably see all three of them again among others from this season. everyone was just too talented. but when you get down to the actual winner. Haley just isn’t there. I’m not saying she’s not talented she just dont measure up to past winners.

It has been a great “Idol show” best ever. So.much talent this year. I really think the last few weeks went kinda weird with who was voted off. Anyway, I am hoping for Scott. he is confident,cute,super talented. A natural! He also has a very unique
country voice. I really don’t think the girls are that great or all that different than a lot of the other singers that went home. Some were diffinately better. Thats just my views. I do know music though!
@steve couldn’t agree with you more. Simon told the truth, without fear or favour. The present judges now are hardly ever critical of anybody, especially Steven. To me, the final 3 are a big disappointment. Don’t really care who wins it but think it will be Scott as Americans love their country music, plus last week he sang a song about 9/11 and Jesus, so he can’t lose!
Lauren is eye candy but is a dull country pop singer, but I want Hayley to win as Hayley has personality and when chosen the right song, an amazing singer.
I cant stand Scotty though but he would probably win since he got the young girls / middle age woman / christian votes which perfectly targets the typical American Idol viewers…

Jacob Lusk was not a good singer and will never be heard of again.
I said from the beginning that I thought Lauren was going to win but having seen Haley grow over the last couple of weeks, I think she may be in there with a shot and is the one I think most deserves to win out of the final three. I thought Scotty should have gone last week and I think he is the least talented but that being now said he will probably win.
Amanda all the judges did was praise and praise James and I’m sure everybody expected him to win after they kept repeatedly saying it, but in my opinion out of the final 4 he’s had the most pitchy moments and stuff ups. Just because he’s big and bold when he performs doesn’t mean he has it all.
What about James??? He should not have been eliminated last week!
You know, I think Simon Cowell probably banked on Idol faltering this year and X-factor coming along in “the fall” and taking the mantle of the nations number 1 singing competition. Not only has that not happened, along has come NBC with “the voice”, which has been, I reckon the surprise hit of the current US season. I don’t know if the sailing will be as smooth for x-factor as Cowell and FOX think, how many singing shows does one country need? I don’t see how X-factor and Idol will possibly work in the same season on FOX. Presumably if x-factor premieres late September it will run right into Idol starting in January? surely singing show fatigue will have to set in at some point?
I’m be happy if Lauren or Scotty win, don’t like Haley… she doesn’t take criticism well. And great work by FOX8 for showing it live again and fast-tracking it all season. FTA networks take note, this is how you fast-tracking shows!
I hope Haley wins! And Jennifer Lopez has been an incredible addition to the show. My favourite judge past or present.
The talent this season surpasses all from the past.
Scotty does not need to win, the guy will be an absolute wealthy super star in years to come. What an amazing tallent.
Lauren will also be a country star, lets not forget she’s only 16.
Hayley has given us some of the most memorable moments, who can forget the awful “Call Me”or the brilliant “House Of The Rising Sun”
She’s such a dirty little thing with an attitude, voice and good looks…fame awaits.
Special mension to the bearded dude who can sing as well as play any instrument, the hot as hell chick who was tipped to win the lot but didn’t engage her audience….boring! the fourth runner up and the overly camp dark guy.
What a season!
Oh and by the way, David, don’t you think Hayley has a spectacular voice too? I’ve never heard her go off pitch while I have heard Jacob a dozen times. I agree with Lauren and Scotty though their voices are limited.
I hope Hayley wins, but I think it’ll be a teenage finale because of the country audiences and how they vote. Oh well, if that happens I hope it’ll be Lauren that wins.

I don’t think this season stacks up to previous. I don’t believe Simon was ever nasty. He was blunt and honest. Watching the show now, Steven and JLO say the same thing to all the contestants “i thought that was beautiful, you really owned that song blah blah blah”

Can’t wait! Based on the three left, I’m going for Hayley all the way and hoping for an all girl finale.
@ David – I love the show (been shattered the last couple of weeks with Hayley not being eliminated) but I’m just wondering if you know what will be replacing Idol on the 1.5 hour timeslot on Thursdays and hour timeslot on Friday?
