Psych cast reuniting for telemovie

Detective Shawn Spencer and his best friend Burton “Gus” Guster will team up for a holiday telemovie.

Three years after its demise, Psych is being revived in a telemovie, Psych: The Movie.

Psychic detective Shawn Spencer (James Roday) and his best friend, Burton “Gus” Guster (Dulé Hill), will team up for the holiday movie, screening in December stateside on USA Network.

Lassiter (Timothy Omundson), Juliet (Maggie Lawson), Henry (Corbin Bernsen) and Chief Vick (Kirsten Nelson) will also return for the movie, which picks up three years after the finale.

Psych is a beloved part of our USA family, and what better time to reunite with family than the holidays,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment. “Steve and James have taken the unique brand of comedy that the series honed over eight seasons and packed it in to a two-hour movie that successfully rekindles one of the greatest bro-mances in television history.”

Psych creator Steve Franks will direct the movie, which he co-wrote with Roday.

It’s not yet clear if the one-off event will have an Australian run. Psych ran for eight seasons across TEN and Foxtel.

  1. Cancellation can suck it!

Ahhhh this is good news. The show definitely had run out of steam by season 8, but hopefully the passage of time will give them a bit of freedom with this special.

      1. Your article says “Psych ran for three seasons across Ten and Foxtel”. A search of the articles tagged for Psych indicates that Season 8 aired on One a couple of years ago. I’d say that’s where the confusion arose for tomothyd.
