Fasten your seatbelts, it’s Pam Ann.

Zany air hostess comedienne ‘Pam Ann’ will feature in a new series for Foxtel, expected to appear on the Arena Channel next year.

Played by Australian Caroline Reid, she’s been a regular on the UK cabaret circuit with her mad-cap mix of camp and glamour. ‘Pam Ann’ has performed at private parties for various celebs including Cher and Elton John.

Meanwhile, Foxtel picked up a number of new shows at MIPCOM including America’s Toughest Jobs, the talent show format, The Ultimate School Musical and a new weekly game show franchise described as …

Gallery: Commander in Chief

Some are fictional, some are actors in biographic roles, but all have been American Presidents on television.

Dennis Haysbert (pictured) portraying President David Palmer in 24 was so impressive in the role that some online polls (including in the UK) put him as “television’s favourite president.” Not a bad feat considering Martin Sheen played the role for 148 episodes on The West Wing.

Here are some others who have spent time in the oval office (and a few presidents without a White House)….

Jack Bauer in Redemption

Here’s a peek at Kiefer Sutherland in 24: Redemption, the 2 hr telemovie that screens in the US in November.

As we know Jack Bauer finds himself in South Africa, as part of a link to the forthcoming season in January in the US. Bauer sees himself caught up in a military coup in the fictional country of Sangala. All that is happening at the same time as the first woman president being sworn in to office.

111 Hits will target 24-54’s.

111 HITS, which launches on November 1st will be aimed squarely at the lucrative advertiser-friendly 25-54 demographic, as a move to compete with the new standard definition digital channels by commercial networks.

It will program US hits primarily from the Warner Bros, Disney and 20th Century Fox studios, including Friends, Will & Grace, Ally McBeal, The Wonder Years, That 70s Show, ER, Murphy Brown, Alf, Lost, 24 and Baywatch.

The schedule from 6.30pm each weeknight begins with Murphy Brown, The King of Queens, That 70s Show, Dharma & Greg, Friends and Will & …

‘Alan Everywhere’ in Torchwood

Alan Dale will appear in next week’s episode of Torchwood.

It’s another credit to his impressive international CV which already lists Ugly Betty, Lost, The OC, NCIS, 24 and a host of others. A long way from Jim Robinson…

This year Dale has been appearing in the stage production of Spamalot in the UK, which required Lost to travel to the UK to shoot scenes for the last series.

The episode “Reset” also has another interesting guest role for fans of the Who-niverse too.

It airs 10:30pm  Monday on TEN.

Criminal Minds

I must admit I always preferred this series when Mandy Patinkin was leading this troupe. He just seemed so damned classy, and that lilting voice belied a commanding presence.

The FBI Behavioural Team may be facing grisly, dastardly serial killers, arsonists, murderers, sadomasochists and cannibals but they lead a glamorous life -flying from state to state in a lear jet.

For my money Silence of the Lambs turned a corner in serial killer storytelling. We love to know what makes them tick, watch how they can outsmart the good guys, and shrink …

‘Charlie everywhere’ bringing new season

With all this Sheen around Nine it’s easy to lose track of where new episodes of Two and a Half Men fall in between repeats.

Nine will soon fasttrack (depending on your definition of the term) the sixth season of the CBS comedy, which started in the US last week.

“Taterhead is Our Love Child” screens Tuesday October 14 at 8:30pm on Nine. Guest starring Rena Sofer (24) and Martin Mull (Roseanne), the plot indicates Charlie discovers an ex has a child that looks remarkably like him.

In the week of October …

Night and Day for Fichtner

William Fichtner has been tapped as the lead in TNT’s drama pilot Night and Day written and executive produced by 24 co-creator Joel Surnow and Todd Robinson.

The project is a fast-paced, gritty drama about the life of Dan Hollister (Fichtner), an agent with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms who works for a special threat intervention task force.

Also cast in the project is ER’s Sherry Stringfield who will play Dan’s wife and emotional anchor Elizabeth, a stay-at-home mom.

But for Fichtner, Fox’s Prison Break remains his priority, though he doesn’t …

24 pauses for 18

Filming on 24 will halt for eighteen days, after the completion of episode 18, due to script concerns on the seventh season. It will resume on October 9th.

Executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon is concerned about the quality of several scripts for upcoming episodes, however the stoppage won’t affect the launch of the next season slated for January in the US.

The production shift follows previous issues for the FOX action drama including holding back an entire season until 2009 and prison time for star Kiefer Sutherland.

The two-hour prequel now titled, 24: Redemption is …

Rush

Despite the first night blitz for Packed to the Rafters, Underbelly is still the only breakout drama of 2008.

So while Seven is elated by the audience rapture for City Homicide, Nine also launches its local cops in The Strip. So it was logical for the network light on local drama, TEN, to find its own franchise with Rush. The question will be, is there room for all?

Rush was originally conceived in 2004 as Rapid Response, …
