2010 Logies: Who didn’t make the cut already?

Sarah Wilson was Presenter on the highest rating show in 2009 -but it wasn’t enough to land her on the shortlist for 2010 Logie Nominations.

The Masterchef host is now out of the race for Best Presenter and Gold Logie before the race even begins. But she is in good company.

Yesterday’s list of possible contenders published by TV Week again utilised a voting system it has employed in recent years: an individual numerical code for each actor, actress and presenter as a way of facilitating the results. It contrasts with a historical …

More Aussies on US telly

Last month it was Claire Van der Boom and David Hoflin, this month its Curtis Stone and even Lola Berry who are making their mark on US television.

As previously tipped, Stone will be one of the contestants on Donald Trump’s Celebrity Apprentice, competing alongside former baseballer Darryl Strawberry, Cyndi Lauper, Sharon Osbourne and Olympic gold medallist Michael Johnson, former Poison vocalist Bret Michaels and others.

To air in the US in March, the celebs will be competing for charities, rather than a role under Trump.

Meanwhile Lola Berry, a nutrition expert …

Morning TV war set to heat up

This Friday marks the last episode of 9AM with David and Kim.

The show will conclude its 4 year run of live morning programmes following the earlier resignation of co-host David Reyne.

Updated:  Kim Watkins is also to depart, announcing today, “I’ve loved interviewing, quite literally, thousands of people from all walks of life on 9am. Each day has been a challenge and, for the most part a delight and a privilege.”

TEN’s chief programming officer, David Mott said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed working with Kim over the four years of 9am and we’ll be …

Dec 11: Last day for David & Kim?

Friday 11th December could well be the last day for 9am with David and Kim as we know it.

From Monday December 14th, it moves into its summer mode, which is its annual highlights clips. This may involve new links recorded by Kim Watkins and possibly David Reyne.

But as Reyne has said he is moving on at the end of the year, the 11th of December could be the show’s last true hurrah.

TEN is yet to reveal its plans for the timeslot.

Last week Programming Chief David Mott told Mediaweek on the Sky …

Morning news for TEN?

The latest speculation on TEN’s plans to its morning schedule tip a one hour News service from 9am – 10am followed by an infomercial session from 10am (can’t hardly wait for that one).

Rumours persist that Kim Watkins and producer Sandy Patterson were given notice on Thursday but TEN is yet to make any announcement.

TEN’s style is often to release such information late on a Friday afternoon, when there is less time to have it reported and dissected.

But nothing came through yesterday.

According to TEN guides 9AM with David and Kim …

Rumours surround 9AM with David & Kim

There is speculation the axe has fallen on 9am with David and Kim.

The Australian reports that sources say the show has been axed despite no confirmation from Network TEN.

With just weeks to go before co-host David Reyne departs the show after four years, TEN has been facing big decisions.

A TEN spokesperson told TV Tonight, “David announced some time ago he was leaving, and we have always said that lends itself to more changes for 2010. What those changes are we have yet to decide.”

The network neglected to include the show …

All the drama of Week 44

In Week 44 viewers bid farewell to All Saints after 12 seasons across 11 years. The 70 minute episode ensured the show departed with its reputation intact and possibly signalled the end of an era of long running weekly dramas. It finished on 1.5m viewers -time will tell if Packed to the Rafters ever comes close to its legacy. Seven, which has been top-heavy in local drama with an embarrassment of riches, won the week and with the introduction of 7TWO today may have ended a winning run by the Nine …

Class over for 5th Grader?

In its 2010 programme launch, TEN neglected to include Are You Smarter than a Fifth Grader?

The Roving Enterprises show has had a tough year, underperforming for the network on a Monday night.

Not every show on the network schedule was included in this week’s 2010 showreel (for instance 9AM with David and Kim, Before the Game, or Meet the Press etc), but given this has been a primetime show its absence does leave it open for speculation.

One of the reasons may have been the network is undecided about its fate.

A statement from …

No risk for 20-TEN

A year ago when TEN unveiled its programming for 2009 it brazenly shocked the nation when it said Big Brother would be replaced by a cooking show. And it promised other local titles including Talkin’ ’Bout Your Generation, Guerilla Gardeners, Bondi Vet and even some that never eventuated: Australia’s Hidden Genius and Undercover Boss.

Unveiling its 2010 titles last night in Melbourne, TEN programmer David Mott played it both safe and sure, only promising one new local title, the Junior Masterchef spin-off. …
