Bumped: Royal Pains

Another Channel Seven show has been amended in its schedule, this time US dramedy Royal Pains.

The series, about a young doctor who becomes a reluctant doctor to the rich and famous, rated 322,000 at 10:30pm on Monday night.

It will not air next week, but returns in a new timeslot of 11pm Sundays following Scrubs, and in place of Air Crash Investigations.

Seven summer update

Seven has updated its first week of summer programming, filling in several TBAs and shuffling a few shows around.

New titles include Stephen Fry in Kingdom as a kindly solicitor who devotes his career to representing the oddball people in the Norfolk town of Market Shipborough, England. Kenneth Brannagh stars as Inspector Kurt Wallander, a brilliant detective who takes each murder case he works on personally and will stop at nothing in his search for the truth. The Take is a UK drama set in the criminal underworld of the East End …

Airdate: Lockerbie Disaster special

Update: Seven’s air crash investigations special is now retitled as Lockerbie Diasaster.

It will look at one of the most famous air crashes in modern history.

Pan Am Flight 103 crashed on December 21, 1988, in the small town of Lockerbie, Scotland. The plane exploded mid-air, shooting massive fireballs of debris onto the residents below.

270 people from 21 different countries died. Seven days later, investigators found a piece of evidence smaller than a fingertip that would crack the case.

It will air 7:30pm Monday August 17th on Seven.

Airdate: Miracle of the Hudson Plane Crash

“This is the captain speaking. Brace for impact,” the passengers heard.

Within seconds they had created history.

Not quite Air Crash Investigations, Seven has a documentary on the plane that crash landed into New York’s Hudson River when a flock of birds struck the engine of Flight 1549 in January.

The UK doco tells a minute-by-minute story of that day through first-hand testimonies of those who were there, including passengers, eyewitnesses and rescuers.

Miracle of the Hudson Plane Crash airs 7:30pm Monday August 3rd on Seven.

A preview is available on YouTube.

Gone: Deadly Surf. Returning: Old Christine.

And the first dumping of the silly season goes to: Channel Nine.

Last night Deadly Surf rated 761,000, down from 10 to 1’s 910,000 before it. It was beaten by Air Crash Investigations, 7:30 Report and The Simpsons.

From next Wednesday December 10th The New Adventures of Old Christine returns with “Richie Scores” episode 12 of the second season.

After its success with Two and a Half Men Nine is drawing heavily on sitcoms this summer.
