Airdate: Glenn Martin DDS, Archer

Two new comedies join FOX8’s Animation Domination lineup from Sunday March 7th.

Glenn Martin, DDS is a stop-motion animated series that follows the adventures of travelling dentist, Glenn Martin, and his dysfunctional family as they journey across the country in a Winnebago.

Along the way, Glenn discovers that hitting the road is more complicated than it sounds, and learns through various run-ins (with mobsters, the Amish, and psychotic navigators) that the road often hits back in unexpected ways.

The show features an all-star voice cast that includes Kevin Nealon (Weeds, Anger Management) as Glenn …

American Dad wins sixth season

American Dad has receieved a sixth season from the FOX Network.

The show, which continues to resonate with men 18-49 and adults 18-34 in the US, is now assured of staying on air through to at least the 2010-11 season.

That’s good news for Seven which has both American Dad and Family Guy from Seth MacFarlane.

His new show The Cleveland Show airs on TEN next year.

Bumped: American Dad, Louis Theroux (this week)

Not so happy with the drop for FlashForward, Seven has hurried a replay of the first two episodes into schedule this Wednesday night from 9:30pm.

That means repeats of Criminal Minds and new eps of American Dad and Louis Theroux are also out (well, Louis was actually filmed in 2000…).

The line up is now:

Seven News: Tsunami bulletin

Seven News has announced a 30 minute bulletin will air at 10:30 on Wednesday looking at the earthquake and tsunami in the Pacific.

Samantha Armytage will present an extended Seven News update at 9.30pm before the 10:30 bulletin.

Updated: Thursday: Seven News adds 15min bulletin at 10:30pm pushing back Family Guy to 10:45pm, American Dad to 11:15pm etc.

Family Guy has “a couple more years”

If Seth MacFarlane has his way, Family Guy will do a few more years then bow out gracefully.

“I don’t want to go 20 years like The Simpsons,” MacFarlane told Toronto’s Sun Media. “Ideally we would go another couple of years and then wrap it up. That would be my perfect scenario.

“I mean, I can already see it coming. I can already see the … we’re in season eight, and it gets harder, it gets harder and harder to do new stuff. I mean, every show starts to suck after a certain …

Seven burns off True Beauty

Seven appears to be burning off True Beauty in a move that will now see double episodes played over the next two Thursdays.

The two hour reality eps screen at 9:30pm on August 13 & 20.

As a result Family Guy and American Dad are out for those dates.

Last night the show took 613,000 viewers.

Seven finished second to Nine last night, but from next week switches TV Burp to 8:30pm and the slightly racier Double Take to 9pm.

Meanwhile many AFL fans in Sydney and Brisbane are unhappy that The Footy Show no longer …

Gone: King of the Hill

Seven has dropped King of the Hill from its Thursday night schedule effective immediately. Ok technically it was screening 12 am Fridays.

It has been replaced with repeats of Room for Improvement from next week.

TV Tonight understands it will make a return, but on another Seven channel. Hmmmmmmmm…..

Also from the week of July 12th, Family Guy and American Dad will screen both Wednesday and Thursday nights, although Family Guy will be a repeat on Thursday July 16.

Returning: American Dad. Bumped: Prison Break, Saved.

Seven has made some adjustments to its Wednesday line-up effective immediately.

American Dad will return this week at 11pm with the episode “Tearjerker.” It aired in the US in January 2008.

This change pushes Prison Break back to an 11:30pm start (bitch, bitch, bitch). Last week it took a slim 226,000 viewers.

2006 US drama Saved, which was airing at midnight, is now out altogether.

TV: The Bush Legacy

Entertainment invariably reflects its social and political times. Movies and television shows are products of their generation. When Clinton was in office there was a flood of movies depicting the US President as an action hero –something writers could never have done while crusty old Ronnie Reagan or George Bush Snr were in power. The West Wing also emerged under the Clinton reign.

So as George Dubya Bush now steps down and makes way for a change in the US, what is his television legacy?

What television shows were a response to his …
