Q & A: August 6

Julia Gillard sure has been busy lately. Not only has she filmed an episode of Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader? but this week she turns up on the ABC’s Q & A.

A far more interesting guest will be Opposition Leader Malcolm Turnbull-interesting if only for the fact that his role in ‘Utegate’ is back in the news again this week. Hardly the time you want to be fronting the public.

Audiences flock to quality

This week the ABC delivered commercial networks a bit of a lesson as US cable series United States of Tara swooped with 1.27m viewers in a 9:30pm timeslot. The network made the announcement today as part of a three day tour across the country.

Headlining the announcement is the acquisition of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Cooking show MasterChef Australia will replace Big Brother across a 7pm timeslot mid year.

Another 7pm strip show is yet to be announced.

The new locally produced factual shows include …
