New pilots from Josh Schwartz, Greg Berlanti.
Prolific writer Josh Schwartz (The OC, Chuck, Gossip Girl) has another pilot added to his CV with CBS picking up a comedy, Hitched, which centres on a young twentysomething couple that are newlyweds while still getting to know each other.
The multi-camera comedy will be co-written by Matt Miller for CBS.
CBS has also picked up an untitled multicam sitcom pilot about a widower who must juggle raising his 12 year-old son while also getting back into the dating world by Tad Quill (writer Dirty Sexy Money, Scrubs). One and a half men …

The cancelled list
As the US Fall Season nears it’s time to take stock of the shows in the US that are not moving forward (including two Aussie adaptations).
Whilst many of us are up to speed on most of these, sometimes one or two escape out attention, and others kinda never get cancelled but remain in permanent hiatus.
For the record here is the list of those that are no more:
ABC has cancelled Cupid, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, In the Motherhood, Kyle XY, Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who, Surviving Suburbia, and The …
Donald Sutherland, deja vu.
Well it’s not quite The Darlings but it might well be The Darlings in white coats.
Following on from Dirty Sexy Money, Donald Sutherland will play the patriarch of another wealthy, dysfunctional family, in CBS’ The Eastmans, a family of doctors. Sutherland will play a distinguished cardiologist.
He will be partnered up with Jacqueline Bisset who plays an emergency room nurse.
Now all they need is Kiefer.

NBC casts Parenthood pilot
Dirty Sexy Money’s Peter Krause and ER’s Maura Tierney are expected to appear in NBC’s TV adaptation of Ron Howard’s Parenthood.
Once Tierney completes negotiations the two will play small screen versions of the characters portrayed by Steve Martin and Dianne Wiest.
Craig T. Nelson is also set to co-star in the pilot.
Parenthood, from Friday Night Lights creator Jason Katims, revolves around adult siblings, the Bravermans.
Krause will play Adam Braverman, a married man with two children who is a lunatic beneath the surface. Tierney will play his sister, Sarah Braverman, a single mother. …
Airdate: Carpoolers
I wouldn’t get too excited about this one, but at least it’s on rather late. Seven will screen the sitcom Carpoolers which features Jerry O’Connell in the slot vacated by Dirty Sexy Money.
It screens at 11:30pm Tuesdays beginning March 10th.
The comedy is about the everyday lives of four male suburbanites with different occupations, who took their private lives and issues along for the ride during their daily commute to and from work.
But in the US it only lasted 13 episodes on ABC before it was discontinued.
The show was created by Bruce …
Time ticks down to 24
In response to questions from die-hard fans waiting for their legal dose of Jack Bauer, TV Tonight can now confirm that season seven of 24 (which started this week in the US) will have a 2 hour premiere in the week of February 1st.
As hinted, the 24: Redemption telemovie re-screening is another chance to help explain the vast time that has disappeared since season six in 2007. Bauer now has to contend with no CTU, a new female President and a bunch of new cast members.
Early in its ratings season, …
Axed: Dirty Sexy Money?
Not so much the first axing of 09 as the last of 2008, Dirty Sexy Money has been cancelled after two seasons according to actor Blair Underwood.
Underwood, who plays Simon Elder on the ABC series, revealed that production on the programme has been halted.
“As far as I’m concerned, we’re not doing any more shows,” he told E! News. “ABC officially doesn’t want to use the C-word, cancelled, but we’re not on the schedule. I would pretty much say we’re cancelled.”
Earlier this month, co-star William Baldwin appealed to fans to help save …
Returning: Ghost Whisperer. Bumped: Dirty Sexy Money
Seven has reacted to the first night’s figures for Dirty Sexy Money and moved it from 9:30pm to 11:30pm.
It will replace it with Ghost Whisperer.
On Tuesday DSM had 504,000 -dropping from Eli Stone’s 926,000 viewers. Seven was third for the night.
From December 9 Ghost Whisperer returns in repeats while DSM pushes Man’s Work and Auction Squad out.
The shows will continue at 9:30 / 11:30pm each Tuesday.
Corrected.
TEN wins Tuesday
And now for some good news. TEN won Tuesday night’s ratings. Very convincingly.
TEN won with a 27.4% share over Nine’s 24.6% and Seven’s 24.1%. It was a complete turnaround from Monday’s lousy 16% share.
It’s been quite some time since the network won an evening, but as audiences sample new summer line-ups, it was a double repeat of NCIS that spearheaded the win. That’s bad news for those who are looking for new treats in summer, when the audiences tell the networks “we wants repeats, please.”
TEN took nearly 1.3m viewers in one …
Eli Stone
Oh for a bit of fantasy on our screens. You can keep your realism and your factuals, television that surprises me is king right now. And that’s just what you get in the first episode of Eli Stone.
Long overdue to Australian screens, Seven is belatedly bringing this American drama to us over summer. Co-created by Greg Berlanti (Brothers and Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money, Everwood), this stars British actor Jonny Lee Miller as a lawyer in the title role. He seemingly has it all, a successful life, beautiful girlfriend and corporate career. …
Eli Stone, Dirty Sexy, Daisies not renewed
America’s ABC has axed three of its shows: Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone and Dirty Sexy Money according to TVGuide.
All three series will come to an end when this season’s 13-episode orders expire.
Daisies’ creator Bryan Fuller said he had been holding out hope that high-ranking advocates for his show could have worked some magic.
Dirty Sexy stars William Baldwin and Seth Gabel told TVGuide.com earlier this week that they were just finishing their own 13th episode, and urged fans to tune in, or see the Darling family take its leave.
Eli Stone was considered …
