Third showrunner for FlashForward
After only 10 episodes aired, FlashForward is about to get its third showrunner.
Co-creator David Goyer is stepping down from his role running the series, to remain “involved” but focussing on feature films and directing.
“As my feature projects have started ramping up again, I felt I was being pulled in too many directions,” said the (story) writer of The Dark Knight. “I’m proud of the show and excited about the relaunch. It’s in great hands.”
Goyer replaced Mark Guggenheim (Eli Stone) as showrunner who stepped down in October.

New pilots from Josh Schwartz, Greg Berlanti.
Prolific writer Josh Schwartz (The OC, Chuck, Gossip Girl) has another pilot added to his CV with CBS picking up a comedy, Hitched, which centres on a young twentysomething couple that are newlyweds while still getting to know each other.
The multi-camera comedy will be co-written by Matt Miller for CBS.
CBS has also picked up an untitled multicam sitcom pilot about a widower who must juggle raising his 12 year-old son while also getting back into the dating world by Tad Quill (writer Dirty Sexy Money, Scrubs). One and a half men …
David Tennant wins NBC lead
David Tennant now joins a long line of UK actors to front American dramas after landing the lead role in Rex Is Not Your Lawyer, a legal dramedy for NBC.
He will star as a top Chicago lawyer who suffers from panic attacks and coaches his clients to represent themselves in court (shades of Eli Stone anyone?).
NBC greenlighted the project in August, about two years after it was first developed, and had been trying to find a lead actor for several months until Tennant came along and nailed the part.

FlashForward loses showrunner
FlashForward co-showrunner/executive producer Marc Guggenheim is leaving the series, to leave David Goyer in charge as the sole series showrunner.
Goyer, who wrote screenplays for Ghost Rider, Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Flash, had limited hands-on TV series experience, so Eli Stone co-creator Guggenheim was brought in after the pilot to help.
Now after learning the ropes on the original 12-episode order, Goyer will helm the remaining nine episodes solo.
Of course, we’re unlikely to see how things fare before 2010 in Australia.

The cancelled list
As the US Fall Season nears it’s time to take stock of the shows in the US that are not moving forward (including two Aussie adaptations).
Whilst many of us are up to speed on most of these, sometimes one or two escape out attention, and others kinda never get cancelled but remain in permanent hiatus.
For the record here is the list of those that are no more:
ABC has cancelled Cupid, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, In the Motherhood, Kyle XY, Life on Mars, Pushing Daisies, Samantha Who, Surviving Suburbia, and The …
US Casting: 24, Entourage
Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff is said to be joining the 8th season of 24.
Her character is in a relationship with fellow agent Davis Cole (played by recently-announced Freddie Prinze. Jr.), and she apparently has a skeleton in her closet she’s trying desperately to keep hidden. But who doesn’t on 24?
Meanwhile Prison Break’s William Fichtner will appear in Entourage, as Phil Yagoda, a slick TV producer who had a hit teen series in the 1990s and is trying to remake it with Johnny “Drama” Chase’s (Kevin Dillon) TV series.
Eli Stone’s Matt Letscher …
Seven Adelaide: don’t touch that dial
Seven Adelaide seemed to have some transmission issues last night.
For about 45 minutes the network was affected, with online forums reporting “Glitching, grey screens, pixelation, no sound, 2 frames per second, skipping, etc..”
Many viewers who reported ringing the station to complain (or indeed alert them to the problem) said lines were constantly engaged.
The trouble affected screenings of Eli Stone and Carpoolers.

The network was yet todeclare what would replace Aussie Ladette to Lady which ends next week.
In slating the movie it does mean Bridezillas is out for the week (at only its third episode) with a night-time edition of The Ellen DeGeneres Show …

Time ticks down to 24
In response to questions from die-hard fans waiting for their legal dose of Jack Bauer, TV Tonight can now confirm that season seven of 24 (which started this week in the US) will have a 2 hour premiere in the week of February 1st.
As hinted, the 24: Redemption telemovie re-screening is another chance to help explain the vast time that has disappeared since season six in 2007. Bauer now has to contend with no CTU, a new female President and a bunch of new cast members.
Early in its ratings season, …
