Martin also appeared on such shows as The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Nip/Tuck, The Practice, ER, Chicago Hope, Suddenly Susan and The Golden Girls.

David Lyons wins US pilot
Former Sea Patrol and ER actor David Lyons has landed the lead role in a drama pilot for NBC.
Cape centres on Vince Faraday (Lyons), a former cop set up as a criminal who becomes a masked hero, The Cape, to clear his name and reunite with his son.
Lyons played Simon Brenner on the final season of NBC’s medical drama ER and last year appeared in A Model Daughter: The Killing of Caroline Byrne.
He is yet another Aussie to be kicking goals in the US.

Top Gear added to GO!
Nine shows no sign of discerning titles between Nine and GO! as it adds old episodes of Top Gear to GO!
Episode 2 from Series 9 will air at 8:30pm Thursday March 4, following more Big Bang Theory repeats.
That pushes ER back to 9:40pm for the premiere of its 15th series with a single episode. That’s the umpteenth start time for ER fans.
Meanwhile plans for The Bachelor next Tuesday at 8:30pm are now out, replaced by Seinfeld repeats.
ER back to double eps on GO!
ER viewers sure need to keep their wits about them on GO!
The show has seen single episodes, double episodes, and start times that bounce from 10:30 to 8:30 to 9:30pm.
Now it’s back to 8:30pm with a double episode from this Thursday.
“Truth will Out” S14E16 and “Under Pressure” S14E17 screen this week with two more next week.
That’s the plan so far, anyway….
Gone: Curb Your Enthusiasm
Uh oh.
GO! is dabbling with its schedule now that ratings are returning.
That’s bad news for Curb Your Enthusiasm which has been dropped from Sunday nights effective immediately. It leaves four episodes in the balance.
Instead the 1986 movie Police Academy 3: Back in Training will air at 10:30pm. Police Academy 4 airs a week later.
When launching the channel last year, a GO! executive promised media shows wouldn’t be taken off air, but given new timeslots. Nobody believed him at the time.
GO! is also filling up fast on a lot of episodes of …
Double Cold Case & ER
Nine will double up on some of its US dramas this week.

At 8:30pm on Wednesday it airs “Jurisprudence” followed by “Soul.” Next week two more arrive with “Dead Heat” and “WASP.”
Meanwhile ER fans get a double dose on GO! on Thursday from 8:30pm too.
Update: A shortlived reprieve…. ER is back to one episode at 9:30pm from February 11.
That drops Side Order of Life out of the GO! schedule for now.
TV Tonight understands it’s likely to resume following …
Forest Whitaker for Criminal Minds spin-off
Forest Whitaker looks set to star in the spin-off of Criminal Minds.
The new series revolves around a new group of profilers who work outside the FBI bureaucracy.
Whitaker will play the squad leader Cooper, described as dynamic, mysterious, charming and a father figure to the rest of the team. He is a former star profiler in the Behavioral Unit who has been off the radar for the past eight years.
Whitaker, who had a recurring role in ER and The Shield, is in final negotiations for the role and is expected to get …
The Good Wife
With a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors’ Guild Award for Julianna Margulies, The Good Wife is really a no-brainer. Good luck to any TV Critic that doesn’t give this one the thumbs up.
Thankfully they needn’t be at pains to do so. This US legal drama is one of the best new shows of the season.
The wife of any leader is nearly always more dramatically-interesting territory than that of her husband. Trapped between being ’somebody’ and ‘nobody’ all at the same time is a curious limbo. Hillary Clinton won international praise …

So what’s been your summer gem?
The other week a journalist asked me for some quotes on how our TV summer season was faring and I pointed out that historically, the 09 / 10 season has offered an abundance of choice -at least compared to when we had just 5 channels, half of which were stuck on sport.
This year the amount of content has boomed, thanks to our extra digital channels.
But when the article appeared in print, readers hit back saying summer is still a dead zone. I got slammed. Well, it is if you stick with …

Last night GO! resumed ER at 10:30pm, bringing the drama back for fans who had been lamenting the show’s absence.

Replays will take place at 2am / 3am.
The switcheroo takes effect next week.
Returning: ER. Bumped: The Hills
Good news for ER fans -at least those with digital television. Bad news for those without… (cmon its 2010 what are you waiting for?).
From Thursday night it will shift to “its new home” on GO! at 10:30pm.
GO! will pick up first run episodes starting with episode nine of the 14th season, ‘Skye’s the Limit.’ Former Sea Patrol regular David Lyons joins from episode fourteen.
It will follow with the final 15th season including the return appearance of George Clooney.
The announcement addresses aggrieved fans of the long-running medical drama who have been knocked …
