NRL Footy Show loses “The Chief”

After 7 years Paul “The Chief” Harragon has quit Channel Nine’s NRL Footy Show.

Harragon (pictured, right) says a revamp of the program has given him little choice but to move on, notes the Daily Telegraph.

“The Footy Show, like any business is undergoing big changes for its future success,” the former Newcastle captain said yesterday.

“I was very pleased to be offered a role as a part of that future, however after some careful consideration I have come to the conclusion that the time is right for me to move on.”

Ex-St Kilda coach joins Footy Classified

Former St Kilda coach Grant Thomas will join Nine’s Footy Classified panel alongside Garry Lyon, Craig Hutchison and Caroline Wilson.

Executive Producer of Entertainment Tim Cleary said, “Grant is one of the game’s most forward-thinking commentators. He is a straight shooter, fearless, opinionated and passionate about football.

“Grant has an interesting history with Hutchy and Caroline to say the least. True to the show’s philosophy of ‘no room for the feint-hearted’, I think Grant will thrive in this robust environment and viewers can expect more of the skirmishes that have become the show’s …

James Brayshaw & Josh Lawson for Wipeout

Footy Show host James Brayshaw and actor Josh Lawson will co-host the Australian series of Wipeout.

The series is shot on the same course as international versions, in Argentina.

Former Wheel of Fortune co-host Kelly Landry is also on the presenting team.

The appointment of Lawson to the role, who has a strong comedy and acting background, is certainly a good choice. As anybody who has watched the show knows, the hosts are almost a show unto themselves, a veritable parody of extreme sports shows.

“The first time I saw Wipeout, I had no idea …

His comments on Radio 3AW follow press reports that criticised the St Kilda Park Primary School for allowing Henson onto the grounds.

A passionate Marmalade came to the defence of former principal Sue Knight. His children attend the school which he describes as nurturing, artistic environment with high rates of literacy.

How AFL delayed local drama

Daylight saving may be coming this weekend to most Australian states but viewers in NSW and Qld are already ahead of the rest of the country when it comes to Australian drama.

City Homicide is still screening one week ahead of Vic, SA and WA due to a repeat episode airing against the Brownlow Medal. Seven obviously didn’t want to compete against the AFL’s biggest night so it slipped the repeat quietly under the radar, leaving those states behind.

Next Monday NSW and Qld will see an episode with a killer’s links to …

Also appearing in the finale are The Living End and Vanessa Amorosi.

But it’s the Player Revue that always has fans excited, an over-the-top homage to indecency, bad taste, raw sex and football drag. How will they get Shane Crawford to stutt …
