Brits love Marge as a TV mum …and Neighbours’ Susan too

Marge Simpson has been voted the most popular TV mother according to a survey of 3,000 British mums.

She beat Pamela Shipman from Gavin And Stacey, and Susan Harper from My Family, to the title.

Fourth place went to Linda Bellingham who plays a mother in an advertisement for Oxo (sheesh), while Ma Larkin from Darling Buds Of May was voted fifth.

Sue Johnston’s Barbara Royle from The Royle Family was voted sixth.

And our very own Jackie Woodburne as Susan from Neighbours was voted seventh as viewers identified with love for her family. …

“In the final week, me and Jo Page just couldn’t stop crying. We were pathetic and we looked like frogs. And on the last day me and James …

Airdate: Horne & Corden

James Corden and Mathew Horne, best known for the UK series Gavin and Stacey, have a new comedy sketch show, Horne & Corden, coming to UKTV next month. The show is shot partly in studio with a live audience, and partly on location. The first episode had a song and dance routine in keeping with a Morecambe and Wise tradition of variety/comedy show.

The two will play themselves as well as original characters including:

Xander: The old boarding school chum, who is the most hideous, foul mouthed – but well meaning – …

Returning: Gavin and Stacey

The second season of Gavin And Stacey will have its Australian premiere on UKTV this month. The first season, starring Mathew Horne (The Catherine Tate Show, Roman’s Empire, Teachers) and Joanna Page (Gideon’s Daughter, Love Actually, The Cazalets), has just concluded a run on Channel Seven.

In the second series of this very warmhearted comedy, we find out how Gavin and Stacey’s marriage is working out, what’s happening in the lives of their families, and, more importantly, if their best friends Nessa and Smithy are finally getting along.

Following their honeymoon, Gavin …

Gavin and Stacey to end

It’s barely started in Australia, but UK comedy Gavin and Stacey will end after its third series, co-writer James Corden has confirmed.

The first series chronicled the developing romance of the two leads played by Mathew Horne and Joanna Pag.

Seven played just one episode of series one in Sydney and Brisbane but pulled it after a disappointing debut and denying viewers in other states the chance to watch any eps.

Corden ruled out any more episodes or specials once they’ve finished work on the next run, saying: “‘This is it. This will definitely …
