Nine’s summer of Gossip

Gossip Girl, Pushing Daisies, Survivor: Gabon, Temptation, Fringe, ER, McLeod’s Daughters -are all coming to Channel Nine over summer.

Gossip Girl, the teen soap set in affluent Manhattan high school circles, has been screening on FOX8 (Pay TV has season two from December) but finally gets a Free to Air screening. Nine, which on-sold the rights to FOX8, will start with Series One. It is the second time the network on-sold a series by writer / producer Josh Schwartz, after it let TEN take The OC.

Foxtel rocks into 2009

Foxtel has joined the procession of new programme announcements, with a raft of Australian-produced and international shows, some of which launch as early as December.

The channels owned & operated by Foxtel include FOX8, FOX Classics, Arena, Comedy, Crime & Investigation, History, Biography and the W Channel.

The titles include 15 local productions, starting with An Aussie Goes Calypso in December and reality competition The Phone in January. Both will air on FOX8.

Returning: Gossip Girl

Pay TV’s ever-popular teen drama, Gossip Girl returns to screen next month.

It’s back on FOX8 at 8:30pm Tuesday December 9th.

Season two of the Josh Schwartz series aired in the US on September 1st. Following 18 episodes of Series one due to the writer’s strike, there are 24 in this season.

The Ex List is axed

CBS has axed its comedy drama The Ex List after just four episodes. It was one of TEN’s mid year acquisitions.

The show revolves around a woman who returns to past relationships after a medium tells her she has already dated her future husband. She is told she has one year to re-find her future husband otherwise she will spend the rest of her life single.

Based on the Israeli series Mythological X it starred Elizabeth Reaser, Rachel Boston, Adam Rothenberg, Alex Breckenridge.

Gossip Girl back to Nine

After initally being on-sold by Nine to Foxtel, Gossip Girl is going to get a free to air broadcast after all.

Nine will screen the Josh Schwartz series sometime over summer.

FOX8 has already screened the full first season, one of its most popular drama series. It is likely to remain the home of first run eps for the series.

The second season premiered in the US this week, but so far no word on when it is due in Australia.

Nine’s selling of the series is not the first time it has on-sold acquisitions. …

90210 launched yesterday in the US yesterday and delivered the highest rated series premiere ever for the CW network in the 18-49 demographic.

Reviewers (y’know the ones who never got to see it ahead of time) acknowledged it stirred some nostalgia within them, with some occasional flashes of wit, and talked up its flashy look. But they weren’t so hot on the storytelling yet. It’s even said to be a little bit tame compared to Gossip Girl.

Real Aussie in Housewives of NY

One of the husbands in the premiere season of The Real Housewives of New York City on Arena, is an Aussie.

Simon van Kempen met his NY wife Alex via the internet in 1999.

Van Kempen left Australian over 20 years ago and has previously served on the State Executive of the Queensland Young Liberals. He rose through the ranks of hotel management in London’s Sheraton, Mercure and Ritz Hotels until he became the opening General Manager of Hotel Chandler, New York the week before September 11.
