No risk for 20-TEN

A year ago when TEN unveiled its programming for 2009 it brazenly shocked the nation when it said Big Brother would be replaced by a cooking show. And it promised other local titles including Talkin’ ’Bout Your Generation, Guerilla Gardeners, Bondi Vet and even some that never eventuated: Australia’s Hidden Genius and Undercover Boss.

Unveiling its 2010 titles last night in Melbourne, TEN programmer David Mott played it both safe and sure, only promising one new local title, the Junior Masterchef spin-off. …

Bumped: Flashpoint , Cold Case.

Nine has responded quickly to last night’s ratings with a switcheroo for its Wednesday night crime shows.

From next week Cold Case moves to 9:30pm with Flashpoint bumped out to 10:30pm.

Flashpoint last night took 632,000 viewers, beaten by Gangs of Oz on1.18m and Life on 810,000.

Cold Case (561,000) managed to beat Lost (516,000). In Nine’s favour at least it is a show that has established an audience and could trail better out of The Mentalist than the Canadian action drama.

Also on Wednesday night TEN’s Guerilla Gardeners didn’t have a strong debut with …

Guerillas demolished by council

TEN’s Guerilla Gardeners went to air last night in which it beautified a barren parcel of land beside a Sydney railway station.

On the same day Sutherland Shire Council decided to rip up its unfinished mission at a rounabout in Jannali.

$2500 worth of plants and shrubs were ripped up as the council moved in.

The actions by the council have no doubt just given the show a priceless publicity push.

“What they did was beautiful and I would look at my windows most days at it,” said resident Belinda Rees. “We’ve only had a …

The war on terra australis

And here are the faces of the Guerilla Gardeners team -TEN’s new clandestine landscapers who hit screens tonight with their ‘hit-and-run horticulture.’

The six are adamant they are spreading good, and a bit of flora, across our cities, even if the first episode brazenly boasts that it breaks “a whole bunch of Federal, State and Local Laws.”  With the exception of one incomplete makeover in Jannali, the crew have managed to spruce up derilect parcels of public land. But as late as yesterday even the TEN legal department was nervous about …

No law in this TV order

So which show will blatantly boast that it breaks “a whole bunch of Federal, State and Local Laws?”

Coming soon…

Update: Guerilla Gardeners is correct.

TEN declares February schedule

Network TEN has revealed details of its February schedule, and in a break from tradition has declared not one, not two, but THREE weeks of programming.

Looking for the magic touch

TEN’s line up for 2009 includes more factual series than ever, returning favourites and new international content. After a disappointing 2008, especially in the second half, TEN will need the magic touch to win back loyal viewers.

The network made the announcement today as part of a three day tour across the country.

Headlining the announcement is the acquisition of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Cooking show MasterChef Australia will replace Big Brother across a 7pm timeslot mid year.

Another 7pm strip show is yet to be announced.

The new locally produced factual shows include …
