Marilyn back in the Bay
Marilyn Chambers, aka Emily Symons, returns to Home and Away tonight as a permanent cast member.
Symons played the always-vibrant Marilyn Chambers / Fisher from 1989 – 99.
She went on to appear in Emmerdale in the UK from 2001 – 2008.
Her return marks the soap’s concerted effort to lift the tone from grim, police-laden plots to lighter fare.
It airs at 7pm tonight on Seven.

Airdate: Kings
US drama Kings, which stars former Home and Away actor Christopher Egan, will get a run on 7TWO later this month.
The bold series, a modern-day drama based loosely on the Biblical story of King David, set in the fictional city of Gilboa currently at war with its neighbour, Gath.
Noted as being unlike anything else on the box, some reviews were robustly favourable. Brian Ford Sullivan of The Futon Critic said “Kings is ultimately a show you’re either going to dismiss as silly and pretentious or fall in love with …
Seven’s Kitchen yet to rule
Seven will be reminded today that MasterChef Australia was no breakout hit for TEN, after a soft launch for its new cooking reality show, My Kitchen Rules.
The show managed 1.1m viewers in its premiere, beaten by a new episode of Two and a Half Men on 1.51m which boomed in Melbourne. The Big Bang Theory also bettered it with 1.24m viewers.
Seven’s show, with a format that so far skates dangerously close to Come Dine With Me, will be trying to get viewers to bond more with its personalities with another episode …
Jodi Gordon set for Cops LAC at Nine
Actress Jodi Gordon has been offered a role in Nine’s newest drama series, Cops LAC.
The news follows stories this week that she would be leaving Home and Away, first reported that she had quit, then followed with another report Seven had let her go.
The Sunday Telegraph reports she first auditioned for a role on Cops LAC two weeks ago, well before contradictory stories emerged.
During the week co-star Lynne McGranger told NEW FM, Jodi was not pushed from Seven.
“I will say that’s absolutely wrong. It was her decision,” she said. …
Jodi’s exit not so mutual
Further to yesterday’s report that Jodi Gordon was quitting Home and Away, today the Daily Telgraph reports a different scenario: one in which she was let go by the network.
It claims she was told in November that her role would not be continuing on the Seven soap, following her year in the headlines.
Gordon is said to be relieved to be concluding with the network at which her ex-partner is the son of the Chairman. She is also reportedly keen to one day give an interview regarding the night the police found …
Jodi Gordon quits Home and Away
Jodi Gordon is quitting Home and Away following a tumultuous year.
Gordon, who plays Martha McKenzie, will film her final scenes at the end of next month.
Last year she was at the centre of ferocious headlines following a now-notorious incident in which police were called to an apartment over an alleged break-in, which turned out to be a false alarm. A most-public split with Ryan Stokes, son of Seven’s Chairman Kerry Stokes, followed.
“Jodi has put in a tremendous five years on Home and Away,” a spokeswoman told the Herald Sun.
“It was a …
Anger grows at Tennis delays
Last night, tennis fans in Melbourne and Sydney got a little reminder of what sports fans around the rest of the country have been experiencing since the Australian Open started: disrupted broadcasts.
Not long after the Serena Williams and Sam Stosur match began, Seven crossed to its 90 minute block of Seven News, Today Tonight and Home And Away.
By the time the highlights of the match resumed, Williams had beaten Stosur 6-4 6-2.
The Daily Telegraph notes that Sydney’s ATN7 took more than 300 calls complaining about the move.
Once again Seven’s messageboard was …
Todd Lasance pleads guilty, put on good behaviour.
Home and Away’s Todd Lasance pleaded guilty to a drugs charge in a Sydney court this morning.
The charges of possessing a small amount of cocaine followed an arrest in a Kings Cross nightclub in December.
According to the Daily Telegraph, Lasance’s lawyer, Chris Ford, said his client had “a bright future on the international stage” and a conviction would severely hinder his prospects overseas.
“He is a young man who is deserving of another chance,” he said.
But the magistrate said, “It’s all about you, isn’t it?
“You’re in the entertainment industry but I don’t …
Viewers hit tennis volleys at Seven
Last year viewers outside of Sydney and Melbourne were slamming Channel Seven for their coverage of the Australian Open, notably for delaying evening sessions to fit with its evening schedules.
Just 3 days into the 2010 tournament and the complaints have already started.
On Yahoo messageboards there is feedback (and that’s about the nicest thing you can call it) with posts on:
- Why is the Open not live tonight in Qld?
- Channel 7 has 0 idea how to show tennis.
- Get rid of Courier.
- Who do we complain too about 7?
- Delaying …
