Returning: The Simpsons

TEN is tweaking its early evening schedule by returning The Simpsons to its traditional 6pm slot as of Monday night.

It’s back with “Milhouse Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.”

Malcolm in the Middle will no longer screen at 6pm, as the network seeks to improve its evening share.

TEN is also adding The Biggest Loser repeats to 3pm weekdays bumping Judge Judy out of schedule, and where a 1 hr episode airs, Dharma & Greg is also out.

Bold & Beautiful in historic win at Daytime Emmys

It’s only taken 22 years, but The Bold and the Beautiful has finally won its first Best Drama Series award at the Daytime Emmy Awards (it may have helped that there were only three in contention, the other two being All My Children and Days of Our Lives).

The View’s Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd won for Best Talk-Show Host, defeating Regis & Kelly, Rachel Ray and Ellen DeGeneres. But the gals didn’t bother to travel from New York to Los Angeles for the ceremony …

Nine scores the week

Week 23 saw all the biffo on Wednesday night. The State of Origin hit a high of 2.28m viewers -a record for the event since OzTAM ratings commenced. It helped Nine win just its third week of ratings over Seven. It was also the same night that The Chaser’s War on Everything offended large portions of the viewing audience with its now-notorious sketch.

Nine won the week with 27.1% over Seven’s 26.4% and TEN’s 24.5%. The ABC had 17.1% and SBS 4.8%.

As expected, Nine won Sydney and Brisbane with Seven snaring all …

Judge Judy doesn’t know Shat

Great little first episode of Shatner’s Raw Nerve this Saturday on the Biography Channel.

William Shatner is surprisingly good in this interviewing role, with thoughtful observations and in depth analysis. Watching him go toe to toe with Judge Judy, both of them rather senior, is very entertaining.

The two sit so close it’s quite a mutual admiration society! In coming weeks look out too for the ep with Kelsey Grammer.

The half hour show starts Saturday May 16 at 6.00pm on Biography.

Airdate: Shatner’s Raw Nerve

Uh oh. They’ve let loose William Shatner on his own television show again. This time in a conversation piece called Shatner’s Raw Nerve.

Described as an “edgy and off-beat celebrity interview series, showcasing his unique sensibility” it will veer from the satirical to the sublime to the serious. As only things can veer under his watch…

Guests will include Leonard Nimoy, Jenna Jameson, Kelsey Grammer, Judge Judy, Jimmy Kimmel, Fran Drescher, Scott Baio, Wayne Brady and Jon Voight. Crazy!

I still love the slogan they used for his short-lived game show Show Me The …

MasterChef in arvo repeats

TEN is dead keen to push MasterChef Australia -so much so that it has scheduled afternoon repeats for the next two weeks.

One hour episodes will run next Tuesday to Friday at 3:30pm.

As an entree, Huey’s Cooking Adventures will screen at 3pm in place of Judge Judy.

On Saturday May 2nd, the half hour edition from Friday night will screen at 1pm.

In the week of May 3rd, the programming is more varied with MasterChef from 3-4:30pm on Monday May 4, then Huey / MasterChef at 3 / 3:30 on Tuesday 5th.

Across that week …

TEN moves Bold & Beautiful to primetime

Here’s a bold (but how beautiful?) programming move by TEN. The network has just announced some significant changes to its summer scheduling.

Afternoon US soap The Bold and The Beautiful is officially moving to primetime, winning a new 6pm timeslot from Monday December 1st. It will be replaced by Judge Judy at 4:30pm.

TEN has also bitten the bullet on its under-performing Will and Grace episodes, axed for the return of Friends at 7pm. It returns with S6E12 “The One With The Joke.”

The timeslot has been a crazy game of musical chairs recently, …

Looking for the magic touch

TEN’s line up for 2009 includes more factual series than ever, returning favourites and new international content. After a disappointing 2008, especially in the second half, TEN will need the magic touch to win back loyal viewers.

The network made the announcement today as part of a three day tour across the country.

Headlining the announcement is the acquisition of the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Cooking show MasterChef Australia will replace Big Brother across a 7pm timeslot mid year.

Another 7pm strip show is yet to be announced.

The new locally produced factual shows include …
